Nestled in Fredericksburg, this charming cabin for $179 per night is a fantastic option for your next trip. Things to be aware of: *From March 31st until October 1st, the fireplace will not be available for use.* *The suite only has a whirlpool tub with a handheld shower wand. There is no standup/walk-in shower.* *Construction is occurring at the property behind this one. As a result, you might experience construction noise, particularly during day light hours on weekdays.* The Austin Street Retreat is an authentic historic home built by European settlers well over a century ago. Restored and embellished through the decades with modern amenities, there are now five unique suites. Located one block off Main Street in Fredericksburg's National Historic District, this premier property is an authentic Texas treasure built of stone, timber and stucco. It is situated on a large double lot shaded by old growth pecan trees and perennials from the LBJ Ranch. Each suite features elegant, charming decor along with a private terrace. Popular for Hill Country Wine tours, family and friend reunions, special occasions and celebrations, the Retreat can sleep a total of twelve people. Eli's is a one bedroom suite which was added to the original historic structure by a family of preservationists. The original windmill and cypress water tank grace the private limestone terrace. Inside, architectural artifacts from around the world work to create a haven from the ordinary. The cast iron mantle from a Philadelphia mansion, antique carved wood sculpture bed frame and antler chandelier all grace the natural integrity of the limestone wall. Featured in the bath is a two person jetted tub which is set in a glass block wall allowing at the same time private and natural light. The suites uses Brooklinen sheet and towels. House Rules as Required by the City of Fredericksburg's Short Term Rental Ordinance - Observe the City of Fredericksburg Quiet Hours (10pm to 7am in residential zones). No music of any kind after 10 pm. - The City of Fredericksburg is a Dark Sky Community with outdoor lighting restrictions. All outdoor lighting is encouraged to be turned off when no one is present to use the light. - Observe the designated on-site and off-site parking spaces. - Place all trash in designated containers.

Cabin was nice but needs a deep cleaning outside requires some ground keeping and a little bit more security lights.

Eli's bed was comfortable. We felt the rental company should explain that the bath is very difficult to get in and out of. We are pretty agile and we had difficulty. Additionally, the jacuzzi bath did not seem clean especially the jets.

Should have read the reviews, they state our largest issue….no shower and the bed came up to my fiancés chest. Literally need to jump up off the stool to get in. Then there was the now shower. The coolish tub had a wand to sort of shower but we had to clean the tub before getting in. Then when we turned on the jets it blew everything that was in them out and it was pretty gross. Only used once because we were grossed out. Location is good but this place needs a severe deep cleaning to move up to 3 stars. The bed was so high to begin with and the pillows matched being super thick and the other side of that is the mattress was so soft it made the pillows feel that much thicker. Finally got sleep when I didn't use a pillow.

We go to Fredericksburg 2-4 times a year and we stay at the Austin St retreat each and every time! It is by far the best place in town! Eli's is our favorite of the group, but there isn't a bad one at the retreat. The whirlpool tub is amazing and the whole location is just terrific!

I was very disappointed in the cleanliness or lack of. Dust very apparent, found a large roach, tub jets were nasty, I am three weeks post op and was not about to use the tub! It was convenient to town and charming. I have pictures if needed. Sorry to be this way but you should know!

My fiancé and I absolutely loved the property. Only small complaint was the AC wasn’t working great and they were warmer days. However, the nights were nice and cool out so we slept amazing. You shouldn’t be staying inside in Fredericksburg during the day anyways. :)

Check in and check out went fine. Eli's unit was clean inside. Property outside in immediate vicinity of Eli's needs serious upkeep an maintenance however. Furnishings were well suited to the space. I didn't realize there is no standing shower in the bathroom, only an oversized garden tub with water jets. The entry and exit to the tub is difficult and frankly dangerous due to the uneven surfaces consisting of rocks grouted together sloping away from the tub. I am 6-ft tall and struck my head on a low part of the ceiling over the sink. Also there is a deer antler chandelier over the bed (main light fixture in the room) which didn't appear to work. The bed was comfortable with plenty of pillows to use.

Eli's was just beautiful, and so peaceful. Even though there were others staying nearby, it felt secluded, private, and relaxing - exactly what was needed! Only wish we could have stayed longer.

Elis was quaint, we stayed 1 night and then went across the way to El Jefes. The tubs were great but I wish they had showers too. we had 1 issue with El Jefes, the chimey flum was to small and poured smoke into the bedroom. I had to take the logs out and put the fire out or we would have chocked to death.

I rented the Eli as a gift for my son and daughter-in-law for their wedding/honeymoon. They loved the privacy and completely enjoyed the house! I also ordered some extras like wine and baked goods so they could really enjoy some quality time together and they absolutely loved it! They will be going back for another trip on one of their anniversaries and have convinced my husband and I to go as well! Thank you so much for helping me with this very important gift to my son and my new daughter!! See you soon.

My husband and I stayed in Eli's place for a weekend getaway. It was a quaint, cozy place and we enjoyed our stay; other than the fact that the mattress was so lumpy and uncomfortable that we didn't sleep well at all. For the price per night that we paid, I expected better sleeping accommodations.

Our experience was truly wonderful. The distance from Main street was short and convenient. The jet tub provided us with relaxation and privacy. The outside patio gave us some down time to enjoy the weather. There isn't a full kitchen - but there is a mini fridge, microwave, and a coffee maker that provides enough. We had take out during our stay, the room provided an intimate setting to have dinner. The room provided exactly what we wanted during our short stay. The tub does provide a shower wand, it required us to sit down and shower. We didn't mind since we read previous reviews about it. There was an instance where there wasn't hot water and we called, they were so quick to answer us and accommodate us. However, the hot water came back after an hour and a half so we stayed. Overall 5/5.

Our stay was nice. Just a few complaints..the room had a smell when we first entered. I know the place is older, but, we felt the smell could have been covered. Also, the antler chandelier above the bed was covered in spider webs or cobwebs. Our last night there we were greeted with the presence of a cockroach. I understand those are inevitable, at times. Just wanted to make you aware. Thank you.

Property gets a 2 for location only. Handheld shower cord was barely 3 feet so there really is no shower, all 3 chairs are very uncomfortable so relaxing was out of the question, and the bed was the hardest bed I've ever been on. Someone needs to put a pillow top on the bed. Patio furniture had the reclining chairs that leaned back so far you couldn't reach anything on the table. Love Fredricksburg, but won't stay at anything in the Austin Retreat cottages again.

The home and surroundings were perfect - nice & private - very comfortable. food vouchers were worthless. my only suggestion would be to either do away with that "feature" or get a better selection. I was only able to find one of the places and they only served breakfast food, and only until 1130am - about 30 mins before I found them.But I will return - will just be sure to bring plenty of my own food.

The room was lovely.I wish that the fireplace was a working one. The bed was very comfortable but I had difficulty getting into it (I'm only 5'2"!). Maybe a stool next to the bed would have helped.

The stay was wonderful we were greeted nicely upon arrival the room key even came with coupons for breakfast and a voucher for free earrings (which turned out to be an $80 value!). The bathroom was as amazing as the last time we stayed at the Eli and it just felt like the perfect getaway......except for the bed. The bed was a nice king size but the mattress was an old spring mattress that was just about the same as sleeping on a slab of granite. My wife has a bad back so it was bad enough that we needed to pick up a mattress pad to make it bearable. If the mattress gets upgraded (just to something a bit newer I'm not saying we were expecting tempurpedic) than the Eli would be a 5/5 10/10 every time!

This was our first time staying at a place that wasn't a secluded cabin out in the country. We did enjoy the convenience of a short drive. In the warmer months you can comfortably walk to your favorite shops. Eli's is an addition off of a vacation home, so we could hear some people talking through the walls. Not enough to follow conversation, it was muffled. If you don't mind staying in a quaint hotel suite, this is an upgrade. Looks historic and pretty landscaping.

This was our second stay at Austin Street Retreat. We stayed in Eli's place and it was charming and cozy. It was a beautiful weekend with warm days and cool nights. My husband made a great little fire in the fireplace and we relaxed on the patio in the mornings. Very comfortable and easy to walk from down town main street area which we did all weekend long.

Upon arriving I noticed that the tub was going to be an issue. Sunken yes, deeo within the floor with feet to reach not mentioned. Quite the challenge for two seniors. The bed was super tall and I am almost 6 feet. I would call this place for rock climbers or high impact atheletes. I

We had an enjoyable weekend here. The location was great, and the room comfortable. The only issues we had were the VERY tall bed (no steps to help you get up on it), no front porch light (it was there, but never found the switch), and the mess around the patio and courtyard (squirrels having a heyday with green pecans, everything covered with shells).Overall, a nice place.

We were there for our 13 anniversary,was disappointed after arriving ,went inside carpet was dirty ,seem to have soap residue in tub so did not take bath. The chairs outside were very uncomfortable.at night we like to sit outside however outside light did not work,called Karen she said they would replace the next day. Agent to eat around 9 at sonic came back got scared a big dog jumped on us,the owner finally called him not a very good anniversary

We woke up early on Saturday morning to a sewage backup in the bathroom and the floor was flooded and the bathtub was partly full of sewage water. The property managers were responsive and arrived within 15 minutes of being called to let us in to another unit on the property. At this point, our plans to sleep in and enjoy a Saturday morning without kids was ruined. We left the property and went to have a breakfast that was partially covered by the vouchers provided with the room. Eli's was a nice room until this occurred. We received a 25% discount on our room. I was genuinely surprised we were not comped for the entire amount or not offered a free night in the future, which is a shame because we plan to return to the area next month but we will stay at Fredericksburg Inn instead. I also never received a call from staff to apologize for this situation. I realize it is no one's fault, act of God, and yet when you are in the customer service business your goal is to make your customers happy so they become repeat customers. We have family that always stay at a GS property and we have lots of friends we encourage to visit the area, we will make sure they stay elsewhere. They had an opportunity to retain a customer and get stellar reviews in an unfortunate situation and they missed out completely. Disappointed...
