The property is in a great area in SLC. It was within minutes of all the places we wanted to go and see. Before we entered the home, I received a text from the manager saying that the previous renters had dirtied the carpets bad enough that spot cleaning did not work. If that had been the only issue, it wouldn't have been that bad. They were communicative about the issue, which I appreciate and they were right to not try to get a deep carpet cleaning in the middle of our stay. The rental definitely lacked. There were no rags in the kitchen to wipe counters or clean spills. There was about a half roll of paper towels that were used quickly. We went and grabbed some at the store. Similar issue with garbage bags. We donated the rest of the box we bought because there were no garbage bags to replace the ones we used. I think the rental had everything you'd need to stay, but they were in places that they would get used. It wasn't until we were cleaning up to leave that we found a closet full of extra linens and towels. My wife and I shared a towel because one of the towels placed in the bathroom got used to clean up a milk mess. Overall, the home was comfortable. The area is great. With a little bit better placement of items in the bathrooms and kitchen, the place would have been a knockout. I'll give some leeway for previous renters making a mess of it.

The Photos make the house look great but the reality is this: House deficiency: Garden was full of dog shit Garden table and patio cigarette butts everywhere Kitchen knifes completely blunt Refrigerator broken Trash can lids broken Front door doesn't function correctly Stains on the carpets in all three bedrooms No top sheets on any beds only comforters and they smelled Dining table unbalanced Plates cracked and chipped (need to be thrown away) Dishwasher full of dirty dishes Dishwasher door doesn't function correctly Basically this house is a pig with lipstick on it!!! The owner should be ashamed of themselves for renting this house the way it is!!! We took photos of all conditions and will be looking for some sort of credit. The house could be great but there is a lack of standard by the owners, in other words they don't care. They obviously didn't check if the cleaners did their job correctly or did not keeping there eye on things in the house, ie plates that are cracked can carry GERMS!! so we ended up eating out overnight!!!

Perhaps in warmer weather the house would be more appealing. I’ll start with the positives: -comfy beds -clean bedding -kitchen is well equipped -close to the University -host was responsive But: -when we arrived it was 50 degrees in the house -front door wouldn’t unlock using the code (or we couldn’t figure out how even after calling the host who ended up unlocking it remotely and telling us where the spare keys were hidden). Turns out the front door lock/latch was very loose. We tightened it using a screwdriver which helped but it was still quirky the whole time. -House was moderately clean but clearly had not had a deep clean in a long time. Moldy coffee grounds from previous guests were still in the coffee maker, linen closets were disheveled, under beds and furniture was filthy, slight odor (maybe pet urine?) -heat is forced hot air which is very hot under ceiling vents and very cold near drafty doors and windows. -Basement (where 4 double bunk beds are in one bedroom) is musty and dank. Turned the heater on but it smelled dangerously hot so we never really got it to warm up down there. -Foos ball table is wedged in an alcove, too tight to play. -Found and replaced several lightbulbs but there were others that we could find replacement bulbs for. All in all the stay was fine, we’re the kind of people who make do but I wouldn’t recommend this place. As I said above, maybe in the summer when it’s hot and dry it’s better. Definitely not a great cold weather house and really needs some TLC and cleaning.

Not clean property
Not clean property
Obviously, put lots of money into the house 15-20 years ago for renovation, however, several items that violated cleanliness policies of VRBO. We understand why reviews said the property was a "little dirty". While counter tops and sinks are very clean, at the front door there are bottle caps, orange peel, and other trash...lots of trash on the grounds around the property (corn cob, bottle caps, etc, also floating in the "pond"). The couch and the armchair that is white with wooden legs have stains. We tried to lay on the couch with metal legs (closest to the fireplace) to watch tv, however after an hour we noticed a smell...when we stood up, we realized the couch has been vomited on, and the vomit smell is activated with body heat. We washed our clothes, showered, and wheeled the office chair into the living room to watch tv. Gross. Carpets need cleaning, lots of stains. One of the brackets for a bench at the dining table is very loose, needs tighten, dangerous....also trash can lid was broken. Upstairs guest bathroom light is out, master closet light doesn't work. Outside sprinkler behind garage is broken, just gushes water. Landscaping, hasn't been addressed in a long time, trees are growing in your flower beds/etc, and lots of poison growing. Would not recommend staying here based on cleanliness.
