About this house rental
Situated in Old Forge, this lovely house for $265 per night is a great option for your next vacation. MooseHaven Old Forge is the perfect Adirondack retreat for you and your family. Located one mile from the village of Old Forge, right across the street from the spectacular and scenic Moose River, the location and home features are ideal. Built in 2001, inside you will find 1,600 square feet of spacious, new living areas. Three bedrooms (all with log beds, blankets and pillows,) two baths, full kitchen with island, dining room and large living room overlooking the Moose, and wrap around porch will provide you and your family space to enjoy each other or solitude if desired. We prefer our guests bring their own bath towels and linens, although we do offer a linen service available for a $75 fee. Outside you are minutes away from all the splendor that makes the Adirondacks a magical place. Every morning you can canoe or kayak the Moose; a beautiful, serene, quiet nature sanctuary where you can visit remote sandy beaches, look for loons, otter, woodpeckers, and blue herons. (3 kayaks are available for your use.) You can swim at the sandy beach on Old Forge Pond (w / lifeguard) in town or take a hike up to a remote beach on beautiful Nick's Lake. Walk or bike 1/2 mile to 2 trailheads and hundreds of miles of hiking trails in the Adirondack Park system, leading to places like Nick's, McKeever Lock and Dam, and the famous McCauley Mountain. Hiking Bald Mt. 5 miles away is a "must-do for all ages! Or, you may choose to relax and view the scenic Moose River from the front porch while enjoying a good book and cup of coffee. You will enjoy the cottage, but the greatest feature of MooseHaven is its proximity to everything Adirondack. Enchanted Forest / Water Safari, swimming, great shopping, food, the Arts Center and a magnificent public golf course are less than two miles away. Within 30 minutes you can whitewater raft, climb Bald Mountain, go horseback riding, or tour one of the great Adirondack estates. In an instant you can disconnect from the everyday grind and escape into mountains, the river, or simply enjoy the wonderful village of Old Forge, and beyond. MooseHaven is a quiet, idyllic setting that you will want to return to for years to come. SPRING AND FALL SPECIALS Although summers are popular for week long vacations. Spring and Fall are perfect for week or long weekend getaways. Many locals claim May is their favorite month, offering unique opportunities to see the signs of new life, and in September and October, there are few better places in the country to experience the brilliant display of color than in the Adirondacks. This was our second time staying at Moose Haven and it was wonderful! Close to Water Safari, shops, movie theater, and dining! Camp is on the Moose River. My favorite was sitting on the wrap around porch with my morning coffee!

Excellent Property & Location
We can’t say enough about this home! Warm, Comfortable and Spacious with easy access to town, walking trails, hiking, biking and kayaking!!! You can relax in style in the charming family room or walk outdoors to any number of adventures! Although there are lots of great eateries in walking distance, it’s nice to eat in too! The kitchen offered everything you could possibly need and more! The Communication with the owner was fantastic! We will definitely return! THANK YOU!!!

Wonderful Fall getaway
The house is roomy and delightful. Very clean, great location and accommodated our family of 7 very easily. The kayaks and bikes available made our stay perfect! Will definitely stay here again.

Great place to stay
This was a lovely home full of Adirondack charm. Large living room and kitchen and bedrooms provided plenty of space. It was decorated in wonderful Adirondack accents and was clean and comfortable. The kayaks that were available provided wonderful trips up or down the river to neat swimming holes and wildlife. We liked that we were close enough to town to walk or ride a bike but far enough away from the noise. The road that the house is on is a little busier than we thought it would be but really didn't cause any disruption to our stay. The owner was prompt in replies and very friendly to deal with. Thank you again Shawn for a lovely visit!

Great get-away!
MooseHaven is a great get-away! We really enjoyed the quiet property, proximity to the Moose River, and especially, the use of the kayaks. The owners were wonderful to work with, and we also very much enjoyed the gentleman who takes care of the lawn. We would love to return again sometime. :)

A Charming House in the Adirondacks
We stayed three weeks in this wonderful house. My children, grandchildren and friends visited us. It is across the street from the Moose River. Shawn has kyacks, bikes, a kitchen fully stocked with everything you might need to cook, games for kids and adults and a fire pit in the big backyard for toasting marshmallows. The location is close to town that has wonderful restaurants and tennis courts. We are already planning to stay next year!

STAYED 7/1-6/16-FOUND HOME TO BE VERY NICE AND CONVENIENT LOCATION. VERY WELL STOCKED WITH SUPPLIES. ISSUES WITH FUTON BEDS BEING
UNCOMFORTABLE-RECOMMEND REPLACE WITH REGULAR TWIN SIZE MATTRESSES. ALSO SOME EQUIPMENT NEEDS MAINTENANCE....DOUBLE KAYAK HAS HOLE-ALMOST SANK AND BIKES HAD CHAINS OFF AND NO BRAKES. RULES FOR HOME VERY STRICT BUT MR. RITCHIE WAS VERY COOPERATIVE WHEN ASKED TO ALLOW SOME EXCEPTIONS.

Perfect weekend get away.
We stayed at Moosehaven initially for the prime location. It is much more. The home was warm and inviting, clean, and well stocked with everything you need. You must bring your own sheets and towels which I prefer. There is a washer and dryer so if you stay longer then we did you can care for them for fresh use. Games and WiFi keep the kids entertained if the weather keeps you from enjoying the awesome outdoor activities. We can't wait to return. Thanks Shawn for all your hospitality!

Excellent!
MooseHaven is in a great location with a view of Moose River. It's very clean and has all the comforts of home. The well stocked kitchen will even keep a gourmet cook happy. The futon beds under the bunk beds are a little difficult to sleep on (hard as a rock). So I suggest you bring a mattress topper for better comfort. The other beds a comfortable. I'm going back in the fall with family and look forward to it. Thank you Shawn for being so accommodating. Your camp home gets an A+ from me!

Perfect summer vacation spot!
This is the third time we've stayed here for a summer vacation. The house is great- nicely kept, terrific location and very comfortable. The kayaks are fun to take out on the river, and we are able to walk and bike to town or anywhere else we want to go. As always, we already start talking about our next stay before we've even left!

Wonderful week with our family and friends
We thoroughly enjoyed our week here and loved the clean and well maintained home. We spent the week with another family of 4, and it was perfect! The house was well-equipped with all of the kitchen items one would need including dish detergent, hand soap, paper towels, kitchen towels, basic spices, etc. We have been to beach vacations where we have to bring or buy everything, so this was great. They even have laundry detergent! We brought our own sheets and towels as recommended by the owners. There are games and jigsaw puzzles, which were nice for the evenings. We enjoyed having coffee on the porch that looked onto the river. The location was convenient to the main street of Old Forge-- a 1 mile + drive or a nice walk. We liked Slickers and sat outside with the kids (ages 7-13) so they could run around and play on the nearby playground until our food came. We hiked Bald Mountain, which is an easy drive to the base, and we rented a pontoon boat in Eagle Bay. Great horse back riding was near Eagle Bay as well. We also enjoyed the Water Safari water park that is just past the main street of Old Forge. The house is directly across the street from the Moose River, so it was easy to walk the 4 kayaks from the garage and launch them (one is a double kayak). We also brought our own stand up paddle boards. The river is calm and peaceful and just beautiful. The kids liked riding the bikes to town and back in the mornings. We saw a lot of wildlife including deer and baby ducks. Shawn was incredibly prompt every time I had a question the week before we arrived. He was really helpful in providing a list of things to do and answering all of my questions. We would highly recommend staying here.

This home is so perfect for couples or a small family. It is so clean & well maintained. Quiet setting with many, many amenities not always offered in homes that are much more expensive to rent.

My family has been going to Old Forge for several years now and this place is by far the best we have stayed at. It is extremely accommodating and very clean! We will most definitely be staying here again. I'm ready to book for next year!

Great weekend at Moosehaven
We just spent the 4th of July weekend in Old Forge and were very pleased with the accommodations at Moosehaven. The house is spotless, has all the amenities of home and is tastefully decorated in Adirondack style. The house feels secluded but is only minutes from town. It was nice to have the kitchen and living room to relax in as opposed to staying in one of the area motels. The owner was always available to answer any questions via email or phone. We enjoyed boating on the lakes, the water park and hiking Bald Mountain. We had a great dinner at Five Corners Café. I would highly recommend staying at Moosehaven! We will definitely be back!
