The house sits on a huge 3 acre block, complete with its' own rain forest and rolling green pastures. Share your breakfast with a kookaburra. sometimes they take up pole position on the verandah. You will never see our resident whip bird, but he certainly makes his presence felt. (The base price is for up to 4 adults sharing in the Main House only.) Minimum 2+ night stay. A complimentary bottle of wine awaits you on arrival, and tea and coffee is there for you to sample. The Retreat is your own private sanctuary. The check in check out times can sometimes be quite flexible, as you liaise with the owner. MAIN HOUSE: * Open plan lounge & dining room, with french doors opening out onto the rain forest and big sliding glass doors opening onto the covered veranda and the magnificent coastal view. High pitched ceilings and abundant glass work together to optimize the fabulous location. This area is air conditioned when nights get chilly. Tamborine Mountain is part of the Scenic Rim. It has a unique climate and peculiar ecosystem which supports much diversity of fauna and flora. It boasts a tropical hinterland that must be experienced to be believed. Everywhere you turn you will see mountains. Australia's most accessible World Heritage-listed rainforests are spread throughout the 8 National Parks of the Scenic Rim. Witches Falls is the oldest National park in Qld ( 1908). The natural landscape is stunning! A variety of beautiful birds forage on the plant life and glo worms, luxurious fungi and other nocturnal creatures benefit from the minimum street lighting on the Mountain. There is much to do and see: The National Parks provide many days of exploration and enjoyment for bush walkers and bird watchers. Off the Mountain, 30 minutes drive away, conveniently located on the M1 motorway, are 2 Fun Parks. Wet & Wild. The new corkscrew water slide sends riders on rafts through an enclosed tube at speeds of up to 30 kmph. It is claimed to be the highest banking tubes in the world.!! Dreamworld, also located on the M1 motorway is home to the Sumatran Tigers. they star in this headline act in 30 hectare fun park. Given their dwindling numbers, this is a memorable experience. If you are a daredevil, you can hitch a ride with a local hang glider, or you can be an onlooker. Meander down Gallery Walk, a run of intriguing shops, restaurants, art galleries. If food and wine are more to your taste, visit the Cheese Factory, or The Belgian Chocolate Shop, or the boutique breweries and distilleries There are locally grown organic veggies, native flowers or a coffee on offer in the local area. Latest News: The Shed near the golf course is open Friday and Sunday for fresh-grown Mountain produce. they are now stocking Tamborine Mountain locally produced eggs. An important occasion had been booked and paid for several months in advance at “The Retreat Tamborine Mountain”. The event had been preplanned for months with the preparation of expensive cuisines and beverages, also including significant travel expense for family members arriving from various locations. Unfortunately, the gathering was completely ruined by a failed water system. There was no running water, being absolutely imperative to facilitate a successful function, not to mention guest's incapable of being able to shower. Unacceptable for a five-star holiday retreat. Several calls and messages in an attempt to contact the Property Manager with no prompt response, it was necessary to find an immediate solution on our accord. We arranged for a local water service authority to arrive at the property and perform an onsite inspection at our expense. To no avail as he advised this was a technical issue outside of his expertise. The Property Manager finally returned our calls to relay a series of instructions in order to resolve the absence of running water. Nothing worked. Back and forth calls later, the Proprietor called and informed us that a hydro technician would be onsite to remedy the situation. By the time the problem was resolved, the planned event had passed. Unfortunately, all too little, all too late, all very disappointing. As the evening grew tiresomely long, the water was now running so at least the guest’s could now shower... or so we thought. There was now no hot water. Further calls to the Property Manager, further remedial instructions that guest’s had to perform, we learned how to reestablish the hot water reticulation. Unfortunately, the hot water wouldn’t circulate for a few more hours, at which point guest’s were beginning to retire for the evening and resigned to the fact that hot showers weren’t a reality until the following day – our departure day. Completely unacceptable in the middle of freezing winter. While the Property Manager and Proprietor where both polite and apologetic, unfortunately these failings are entirely unacceptable for a five-star rated holiday retreat. In the spirit of five-star service, compensation will be required in the form of a full refund. The Property manager has advised that the Proprietor will be in touch. There has been no return call. This exercise has caused immeasurable distress to the host. An exorbitant expenditure for an extremely negative experience.
