The grounds are lovely, despite the HS2 works the hotel was peaceful.
The hotel was virtually empty so not much atmosphere. They should have some background music in the public rooms/restaurant as it was far too quiet, it felt intimidating and not relaxed. We sat out on the terrace and would have sat for longer but no shade at all, need some parasols over the tables.

Lovely estate. Love the heritage library and lounges.
Nice little spa. Excellent massage. Good food but a bit pricey.
Don’t like the duvet blanket set up
