Bathroom flooded after taking a shower

Admiral room was absolutely stunning.

Only gripe, that being a tiny one, was that the windows didn’t have a latch to keep them open. Seemed to be broken but that doesn’t take away from the room in the slightest.

The hotel was warm and welcoming, the reception team were excellent.

I booked a King Deluxe with a garden view as this was a special occasion. The room was on the 2nd floor in the Mansion House (no lift) and was a decent size with a huge bathroom. There was a garden view (very nice) but also directly under the window was a huge marquee presumably used for weddings. So I was very relieved there was not a wedding going on while we were there. There were quite a lot of facilities like a mini bar, kettle with a good choice of drinks and biscuits, a coffee machine (which didn’t work every time) but oddly no safe. The bed was very comfortable and it was very quiet at night despite being close to the motorway so we did sleep well. We used the swimming pool in the morning and it was very pleasant with a good temperature but the changing/shower area was very basic. The bar food was acceptable and breakfast had a decent selection of hot food and fruit, but only sliced bread for toasting and no other choice. All the staff we met were very friendly especially the barman.

Overall the hotel is a bit odd; the original attractive house is connected by sprawling corridors to the restaurant and bar and then to the newer bedroom wings. The bar was more of a corridor area and the restaurant also open to the corridor. On check in we were asked to leave a £50 deposit (in case we emptied the mini bar apparently) but when we ordered food in the bar we were not allowed to charge it to the room unless we increased the deposit at reception. This is not something I have ever come across before. The bathroom was very dark as one of the lightbulbs needed changing but no-one had bothered. The woodwork is painted a very dark grey and in a lot of places it really needed touching up. There was a connecting door to the adjacent suite and there was some noise leakage from this. There were however a lot of things on the ceiling with various glowing and flashing lights which was a bit annoying in the dark. There was no safe which would have been useful as there is a swimming pool which has no lockers.
