The hotel seemed very green and spacious. The room was clean, but very old. The service was not that good at all. Overal

The hotel area is very green, feels like you are in the jungle. The hotel seems spacious, the room is clean, however very old.

We didn’t like the service at all. At the breakfast and dinner workers were asking if we are enjoying or not every other minute, and were disturbing us right in the middle of our meal. But when we needed their help and service (like water and tea) it was very hard to find and ask them. They tried to give us chargeable bottled water when we asked normal free one. The first, second day we asked to repair the curtain rolls in the bathroom, but in three days nobody came and repaired it.

Great location not good atmosphere and average room

The room was lovely, bed was really comfy and the bathroom was great. Nothing outstanding but it was nice. The location is amazing, the infinity pool is stunning and the views are fantastic.

The food is average and the atmosphere was poor! If you are staying for the experience of location then it is worth it but other than that it's an average hotel.

Amazing building. Well worth a short stay.

One of a kind building. All the staff were exceptionally well trained.

You can’t really leave the hotel easily. So it has a cruise shop vibe, where you wander the halls from this pool to that. Because of the seclusion, it didn’t warrant quite as long of a stay.

Отель реально необычный и он стоит того чтобы в нем побывать. Вид из окна потрясающий. Дикие обезьяны, (ворующие из номера продукты)-это особый шарм. Кричащие дикие слоны, различные птицы... это все незабываемо Завтраки очень хорошие, ужины не дорогие и разнообразные.

Отель реально перегружен. Нашим друзьям перепутали номера( дали номер без вида на озеро) , ошибку исправили только на следующий день. Разницу в цене не компенсировали. Отель нуждается в реновации. Все уже очень устаревшее.

A beautiful classic hotel

This is an OG Sri Lankan hotel and has a reputation for being a great hotel. The property is massive and fantastic, with nature and wildlife all around, a rustic aesthetic, 2 swimming pools and excellent food. It is a fantastic place to unwind and relax in but can get a bit crowded especially if there is a wedding happening. The rock pool is a nice touch and the ambience here is very relaxing.

The hotel does look a little tired and could do with a little renovation to bring some life back to its walls and rooms. Watch out for monkeys stealing from your room if you forget and leave the balcony doors open!

Открытые пространства отеля на этажах - супер. Гуляешь в самом отделе рядом со скалами и растениями. Возраст отеля никак не портит пребывание в нем. Да, он устаревший визуально, но на качество никак не влияет. Персонал очень вежлив.

Не минусы, но на это стоит обратить внимание: отель не выходит на связь в сообщениях здесь, задавала вопрос по поводу оплаты. Клининг ходит по номерам и просит чаевые за слоников и зайчиков из полотенец. Очень долгая дорога непосредственно к отелю.

A fabulous stay in an architecturally interesting hotel

Kandalama is situated in its own grounds with views of Sigiriya, a lake and the surrounding countryside. It is possible to see wild life venturing to the lake. There is a choice of swimming pools and a number of areas in which to relax. It is an architecturally interesting hotel - having been designed by the renowned Sri Lanka architect Geoffrey Bawa.

Being situated in its own very rural grounds and with a combining indoors and outdoors design there are monkeys around the hotel which can be a nuisance at times - although the hotel does employ staff to scare the monkeys away.

Not much variety of food like meet and fish, but lots of deserts, which are not that necessary

I cant stay we enjoyed our stay at kandalama as we faced with few disappointments.

ok so as I need to say something here I would say food is ok. The view is excellent and we cant stop taking 1000s of pictures.

Room service was very slow. At night i requested something and it came nearly 45 minutes later. house keeping is not in a standard level (no room slippers/iron board ). also reception took long time to answer the call.

Great location. Great food and buffets. Caring and helpful staff.

They made us pay for rooms upfront on chrck in. This implied they did not trust their customers/clients. Most other hotels do not do this.

Rooms were very dirty also staff don’t have enough experiences .. I can understand maybe after Covid , they just adapted but hotels locations and hotel buildings are very nice. If they improve their self, nobody can stand on this hotel. They will success it..

the staff in the kitchen and restaurant was exceptionally good the food extraordinary the "dine in a cave" experience superb Chef Dinesh went out of his way to organise a live cooking under the rock! we will not forget this

reception was as bad as it gets: unfriendly and treatment like thieves: pay first, than enter

Good hotel with wonderful architecture in the heart of Sri Lanka

Great architecture. Great location on top of the lake. Wonderful rooms with stunning view. Nice pool to cool of. Built into the landscape, animals really near.

The food was average. Nothing special. The buffet had to many things. Better to scale down a raise the quality. A bit overpriced for the things they generally offer.

Hotel staff stole jewelry from my room.

I was robbed in hottel. I left my gold ring and chain with jewels at the hotel after check-out when I was driving in taxi I realizing I left the jewelry in the bathroom. When I came back 20 minutes later the room had already been cleaned and I couldn't find the jewelry, the staff refused to help and suggested that I contact the police instead of checking with the staff.

nice view of Sigiriya Lion rock from the restaurant. Tea served at restaurant was impressive, the one from Nuwara Eliya.

A bit far from Sigiriya, and the road to the hotel is a dirt road.
