Reserve una habitación con balcón y vista al rio… NUNCA me dieron ese tipo de habitación… muy por el contrario al reclamar me trataron muy mal y no me quisieron cambiar de habitación y tampoco el descuento por usar una habitación q la vista era a los techos del área de servicio del hotel!!! Envio fotos de la vista desde la habitación q me asignaron… NADA Q VER CON LO CONTRATADO CONMAS DE 3 MESES DE ANTICIPACIÓN!!! Muy mala experiencia con el hotel… PARA NADA RECOMENDABLE .

Rude hotel staff

Nice swimming pool with a view on the river.

The elephants in the river are not wild animals. They are from the elephant orphanage close to the hotel. Twice a day the elephant go to the river for bathing. We saw a lot of elephants that weren’t treated well, handler shouting to them, poking with a sharp stick, riding them and some were chained while in the river and could not stand well. Also the handlers are very rude/bold. They offer to take a picture for you and then ask for a tip. If you give a tip they will say is not enough and ask for more. Some of them are in the hotel/restaurant and you don’t know if it’s hotel staff or handlers. If you want to see elephants up close, go visit the ELEPHANT FREEDOM PROJECT. This is a place where elephants are treated humane. The hotel staff is also pushing to take “free trips” or book a taxi through them. Every day I got multiple WhatsApp messages from the manager asking our day plans were.

Amazing

Unbeatable experience viewing the elephants both during the bathing and as they marched in to town. Elephants are not my "thing" and it still knocked me off my feet. Staff were really nice and took special effort to make it a good experience.

This doesn't have much to do with the hotel but the shops and riff raff nearby that try to profiteer from the elephants being around were pretty aggressive with their selling/scamming. It was exceptionally intense and very unpleasant. It was probably the only place in Sri Lanka where I didn't want to leave the hotel. I hope the community does something about it because its next level.

Location.

No driver accommodation. Paid for an additional room for our driver. Meal was extremely expensive in relation to quality when comparing to other hotels we stayed at in Sri Lanka

The hotel stuff stolen my money!

Beautiful place

Robbed us in the hotel room, somebody (must be hotel staff)enter our room and stolen 3000dollar! Nobody wanted to help us, so we called the police and write claim. Be careful! They are friendly and nice but if you have problem nobody helps! Never again!

near the elephants bath, you can see the elephants taking a bath😂, playing and walking around all that while you enjoying the pool.

the smell of the rooms, the hotel is too old, elephant keepers stocking you to take photos with elephants to pay them.

Brilliant location, excellent viewing position, good value meals and drinks- very helpful staff. Enjoyed to pool and restaurant. Rooms were clean and spacious. Management were helpful with onwards travel.

The place wirth visiting because of elephants and their bathing procedures. For sure one of the emotional mornings in Shri Lanka.

It’s all about the elephants here really enjoyed our stay and overall accommodation was fine.

location was everything, we had a view of the elephants in the river from our balcony which was amazing

Grest location to see elephants.

Perfect location for watching elephants - you can see them generally round the clock during the day. Worth to stay even 2 nights! Very helpful and carrying about guest stuff - from the boy and technical stuff to the reception and transportation stuff.

Best place to see elephants!

It’s really good place to see elephants in the river twice at 8-10 and 14:00-16:00. But if you need check in early 16:00 you need ticket. Room is ok, clean, simple and have hot water and air condition. Breakfast on buffet with view at elephant bath. Hotels stuff is very kind and nice.

Some places of hotel old and broken, water inside pool not so clean. Some noise because it’s near at the road.

Good but with some issues.

Great place to visit Pinnawala, 2 times per day there are elephants swimming in the river right near hotel. Main reason to stay in this hotel.

Breakfast tables was set without any justice , so we had to look at elephants from our balcony, instead of restaurant place together with other guests. Rooms are not so new.

The location of the hotel is amazing perfect for the elephants, hotel is definitely basic but worth it for the area, would definitely say you only need one or two nights here as there’s nothing else apart from the elephants

Everything was just outstanding, it was beyond our expectations. very good location (with a panoramic view of the elephant in the river) dinner and breakfast were so tasty. the price is exteremely cheap comparing to the service provided. very kind staff members, especially Mohammed who was very friendly and ready to help for every single thing you ask for.

Wonderful experience with my family.. the hotel is very nice and very attractive cz of the place of situated. We watched elephant bathing and kids enjoyed well. The staff including mohomed and pradeep at the restaurant were very helpful and friendly. Looking forward to visit this hotel on my next vacation as well. I recommend the place for any one who visit pinnawala.
