Location, apartment was large.

Wuite dated, looked run down from outside. Lack of shelves, hooks, no closet

Clean, comfortable. Good breakfast.

Not a lot of dining options nearby.

A bit pricy and no refrigerator

Location, location. Vik offers a great base for exploring Southern Iceland. From the hotel, you can walk to a black sand beach with views of dramatic sea stacks. The Skogafoss waterfall, sea arches, glaciers, and the site of the 2010 volcanic eruption are all within easy driving distance. Vik has a grocery store, gas station, and other necessaries. The Troll Hotel is centrally located and was easy to find.

The price was exorbitant—more than $500 per night for a triple-bed room. For that price, the room and amenities should have been luxurious. Instead, our room looked like a dorm or backpackers’ hostel. It was adequate but shabby with no decor. The window looked out on a trash dumpster.
