The property was clean and quite just what we were looking for.

The locality was as expected with beautiful lake views from the restaurant. The breakfast was very good and the staff were friendly and attentive. Check in was easy if a little late due to the room not being ready but a drink at the bar was nice while waiting and staff had kept us informed of the delay. The fireplace in the room was good given the cold night.

While I suppose it was partly due to a lack of research on my part, we were a little disappointed with the Whistlestop cabin which was situated away from the main resort and required a drive to get to reception/restaurant. Definitely no lake views. It was a restored old railway station which lacked what I would expect a $500+ per night accommodation to have. The air conditioning was problematic, we had to call reception to get a staff member try and get the TV to get what we wanted and we still couldn’t get our required programming. The bathroom was tiny and the toilet was minuscule. It was a restored old building with tongue and groove walls and old polished floors. There was no real outlook unless you sat outside but not an option given the cold weather. Basically it was pretty much old and dated which some people may find to be what they’re looking for but for us, disappointing for what the cost was. I assume the other cabins were much more attractive but some, like us, would find the cost prohibitive.
