Ika and Yani are such incredible hosts. They were so thoughtful and friendly. I really felt at home and they were very kind to me, letting me stay in my room late and making me some tasty traditional snacks. ika even got up at 04.30 and made me an omelette sandwich to take on a 5am trip. What can I say! Amazing! They can help organise anything you need and the price is so reasonable. The room is simple but it has everything you need. Also they have a beautiful garden and are close to many restaurants. Definitely stay here!

Exceptional 2-night stay at Efata Homestay – the perfect base for Borobudur.
We spent two nights at Efata Homestay in Borobudur and it was one of the highlights of our trip to Java. This is a true family-run homestay, not a hotel, and that personal touch makes all the difference.
The location is excellent — just a short walk (around 10–15 minutes) from Borobudur Temple and the sunrise entrance, yet set on a quiet street away from the main tourist bustle. The property sits in a lovely little compound with a beautiful, well-kept garden full of greenery, flowers, and outdoor seating. It was the perfect place to relax with a cup of coffee inthe morning before a day of exploring.
Our room was simple but very clean and comfortable, with air-conditioning (quiet and effective), a private bathroom with hot water, and a nice outdoor seating area facing the garden. Everything we needed was there, and the space felt peaceful and well-maintained.
The real standout, though, is the hospitality from hosts Ika and Yani. They are genuinely warm, helpful, and thoughtful. From the moment we arrived they made us feel welcome, shared useful tips about visiting the temple, local attractions in the area, and recommended good local restaurants, and were always available if we needed anything. Breakfast was a highlight each morning — delicious homemade local Javanese food prepared with care. The coffee they served was delicious, and Ika’s knowledge of the area (he’s local and a former teacher) added real value if you want to see more than just the main temple.
For a short two-night stay it felt ideal: convenient for the temple, quiet enough to rest, and personal enough that it didn’t feel like just another hotel stop. If you’re looking for a clean, affordable, and authentically welcoming place near Borobudur, I highly recommend Efata Homestay. I’d happily stay again.
