Don’t miss a stay here if you want a true ryokan experience

Amazing ryokan stay. Property is really nice and is well prepared for international tourists. Staff is super nice and helpful. You really feel at ease and relaxed. Food is amazing!

An incredible place to stay

An amazing location, a splendid room, and the food was incredible. I have dietary requirements and the kitchen made a special menu for me so I could eat everything on offer, amazing!!!

De highlight van onze tour.

Het eten. Wat een onvoorstelbare hoeveelheid lekkere hapjes. Echt iets iets om over naar huis te schrijven.

Het gebrek aan slaapcomfort. Desondanks was het een onvergetelijke ervaring om de traditionele Ryokan-stijl mee te maken.

The best place, best hospetelity, amazing food, best location, attention to little details. We felt welcomed.

We loved everything, but you should be aware of the simple rooms and the joint restrooms and showers.

Convenient location

It is a short walk away from kappa bashi. Food was good.

The blankets have a smell and faint yellow stain on them.

Great location close to kappa Bridge. Nice rooms with great mountain view. Excellent dinner with amazing choice of different dishes. Nice onsen. Only 10 min walk from bus station.

Very hard tatami. Breakfast only Japanese style.

Awesome mountain lodge!

Stunning location! Next to the soothing sounds of the river and views of the mountains around. It's pricey, but worth it for the location, the friendly and helpful staff, and the delicious and plentiful food. Multicourse kaiseki dinner, and filling breakfast - good fuel for tackling the mountain hikes!

Good location and food but old hotel structure with no private bathroom or toilet.

Good variety and quantity of Japanese food. Location is very good.

Our stay here wasn't long enough. We are returning for 3 nights next time!

The best value in Japan! The included dinner and breakfast was among the best "Japanese" meals we had. This is an authentic lodge, with exceptional attention to customer service. If you have already done the Tokyo/Kyoto/Hiroshima tourist thing, Kamikochi should be on your list in your second trip to Japan.

Considering this is an old mountain lodge, it was pretty well maintained and comfortable. I don't know if I want modern in a place like Kamikochi. If you don't enjoy Japanese lodges and meals, this probably isn't the place for you.

A wonderful stay in a gorgeous location. Highly recommended.

We had a wonderful time at the Nisha-itoya lodge. The staff were very attentive and helpful and looked after us so well. The Japanese food was wonderful and seemed to get better every night we stayed and they were able to accommodate my fussiness and my partner’s veganism. The public bath had a gorgeous view of the mountains.

The staff was amazing. They had great amenities like a library and a free rest area with free tea and coffee. The food was also scrumptious. Would come back just for the food. Rooms were spotless with an amazing view of the mountains. When we were leaving, it was raining and they helped us wrap our luggage to keep them dry. 15 out of 10!

Beautiful space in Kamikochi, great for a family

Exceptionally clean. The owners and staff were very kind and made us feel at home. Our kids were very comfortable here. The food (breakfast and dinner) was out of this world. Our six year old wants to go back because of the food :). Great location in Kamikochi, loved the library and tea room. Highly recommend.

1. Exceptional service. We left luggage at lodge as we arrived early. When we returned, our luggages have been brought up to the room. Staff showed us around the facilities before bringing us to the room. Forgot something and came running back. When I stepped through the doors, staff was standing there with a pair of slippers and my room key, waiting for me. 2. Onsen has view of Hotaka mountains. Good range of skincare products supplied. 3. Meals were sumptuous and delicious. Wide choice of tea in the lounge where guests can enjoy free coffee and tea. 4. Self-service laundromat available, though we did not use it.

Walk from bus terminal to bridge involved pebbly path which was difficult for trolley luggage. Was even more difficult after a rain. Pavement from bridge to lodge was fine.

Best experience ever!

Everthing! Location, staffs, facilities, cleanliness, food. The room may looks old but it is super clean. I tried the public bath for the first time. It is very interesting and impressive, just blow my mind.
