The location only
After spending the last 12 consecutive summers vacationing in Greece and having had excellent experiences almost everywhere, this was the first time I felt truly disappointed.
Apart from the location, Hotel Pithari offered very little that met my expectations. The rooms were extremely small — in fact, this was the first time in all my years of travelling in Greece that I stayed in a room so small that even the sink was placed inside the bedroom itself. The furnishings and amenities were very basic and of rather low quality.
The staff was relatively cold and lacked the warmth and hospitality that Greece is usually famous for. Service felt passive rather than proactive and did not reflect the standard I have experienced elsewhere in the country.
The breakfast was particularly disappointing. There were very limited choices, with only a few basic options available. The quality was poor and portions were minimal. Instead of traditional Greek products, the cheese served was industrial Gouda of very low quality, the ham portion was extremely small, and the yogurt lacked flavor and was accompanied by only a couple of pieces of fruit.
What surprised me the most was being told that there was no feta cheese available when I simply asked for two eggs and some feta cheese for breakfast. Being in Greece and hearing that a hotel does not have feta cheese available was something I had never experienced before in all my years of visiting the country.
Considering the price, it would have been possible to stay in a good three-star hotel in the center of Thessaloniki offering a significantly better overall experience.
Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this hotel. In my opinion, the value for money is poor, and future guests should carefully consider other options before booking.

Brilliant. So well worth it in terms of staff, room and location (20m from beautiful sandy beach and cafes and restaurants). Got a room with a balcony view of the sea. Super lovely owners who gave us a choice of rooms and late check-out at no extra charge since our flight was in the evening. Coffee and tea available 24/7 in the foyer, which became a meeting place for a friendly chat with other guests.
