We love the history and character of Albert Cottage, together with the attention to detail throughout the property and the many lovely areas in which to relax. From the bedrooms and lounge areas to the wonderful bar, which has such a warm and relaxing atmosphere, everything feels thoughtfully considered. Albert Cottage has been carefully and sympathetically renovated, retaining the character of the building and its surroundings and remaining true to the period it represents. On sunny days, we particularly enjoy visiting and having a drink on the beautiful terrace or relaxing in the grounds, which are a real asset to the property. A special mention must go to the staff, who really do make a difference to the experience. The barman, a local chap called Callum (or Connor), was extremely friendly and welcoming. When I asked if he could create a cocktail out of some spirits I liked, he didn't hesitate and produced a perfect Hazlenut Espresso Martini. Absolutely perfect! Likewise, Rhys was exceptionally friendly and engaging when looking after us in the restaurant. Both are a real credit to Albert Cottage. Finally, Tracy was incredibly welcoming throughout our stay and helped make us feel at home. It is these personal touches, together with the history, atmosphere and wonderful setting, that make Albert Cottage such a special place to visit.

More consistency between breakfast as we had a different experience on both mornings. Monday was somewhat more friendlier than Sunday. No preserves available to accompany the croissants. Toast was offered on the second morning but not the first. Background music was a welcome addition on Monday morning, helping to create a more pleasant breakfast atmosphere. It would have been nice to have had this on both mornings. The breakfast menu itself was very good, particularly the use of local produce.

Traditional style

Not very clean, room was filled with spider webs and I could hear mice moving in the roof space above which was confirmed that there was mice when I saw them on the balcony area the next morning

The hotel is a lovely building with Royal History right on the edge of the Osborne House Estate and a stone's throw from the ferry terminal, which was what we were looking for. The owner's touch is felt everywhere, and the decor and atmosphere are warm and inviting. The staff were really friendly and helpful and our breakfast was delicious. The Edward Room was nicely furnished and a pleasure to be in. I recommend the hotel and the staff.

The mattress was uncomfortable. It had a dip in the centre, so I spent the night perched on the outer edge. If one of us moved, the mattress sent of a wave of movement to the other person. Only one socket was working on the EV charger, which was in use when we arrived which meant we couldn't charge overnight.
