The host is super friendly and went above and beyond to help, warm and family-like vibe. The host would offer to bring us out for dinner and gathered with other guests, played the transitional Japanese musical instruments for us, having great time. The music and the vibe and being able to staying in a nostalgia Japanese property made it a gem. Looking forward to another visit in future.
Noise of the road but just a pair of earplugs fixed the problem. Slept well with earplugs.

We loved the home! It’s beautiful and cozy. Tomo and his wife are very inviting and kind. We went with Tomo to Biwa lake on a little road trip and really enjoyed his interesting perspective on everything Japan. Staying with him was the highlight of our trip and I would highly encourage you to book this property!

It was neat to be able to sleep on the tatami mats and mattress and to be in a more traditional Japanese home setting.
There are 3 total guest rooms on the property. The 2 toilets, 1 sink and 1 shower are downstairs and one of the guest rooms. My room was upstairs which was ok, but it was an adjustment that I didn’t understand from the description. The room I was in had a lot of street noise. It was fine for me, but some people might not like it.

Owner was sweet
A bit old and run down. Amenities like towels were charged extra. laundry service was available but really expensive and there were signs saying that you are not allowed to handwashing your clothes or you get a fine… walls are paper thin and if it’s not the noise from the street, it’s the tenant next door turning over in her bed that might wake you up.
