Villa Alicia Guest House

We stayed here for a week at the end of August and overall had a pleasant experience. The location is good. Villa Alicia is situated just outside the downtown business district, in a quiet neighborhood with a charming street lined with historic houses. The city center is about a 15-minute walk away, while the beach is around 25 minutes on foot, so it’s a great choice if you enjoy walking. The villa itself is very beautiful, surrounded by lush greenery. Just a small tip: if, like me, you’re a magnet for mosquitoes, definitely bring some mosquito repellent! We stayed in a double room with a private bathroom. Just keep in mind that the “double room" consists of two single beds pushed together. The furnishings have a vintage style, which we found charming. The room also had air conditioning and a mini fridge, both of which were very useful during the hot August days. The bathroom, however, is very small, and the shower could use some maintenance. Unfortunately, this is where the experience fell short for me. I’m giving the property 7/10 because the towels provided during our stay were consistently stained, and there was no shampoo or shower gel available. We also requested room cleaning, but the service was limited to making the bed, and the bathroom was not cleaned at any point during our stay of more than a week. Overall, Villa Alicia is a beautiful property in a great and peaceful location, with plenty of charm. With some improvements to housekeeping, bathroom maintenance, and amenities, it could be an excellent place to stay.

Dirty towels and no toiletries

The location and surrounding streets were amazing and super calm! Also the breakfast is vegetarian friendly and very filling!

The fact that the kitchen closed at a certain time so if we got back late we couldn’t cook for the following day. But it’s nothing major

The location was great. The overall stay was amazing and the entire building aesthetic is beautiful. The only thing I think they can improve on is the shower, it was backed up in the room we were in from the first day we got there, we sent a message to the staff to fix it - they came in that same day while we were gone to fix it. We took one shower and it immediately got backed up again. Besides this, the entire overall vibe of the place was very nice!

I was only there for 3 nights and was meeting up with friends , so didn't really interact with the guest house. I'm sure the staff would have been fine . I didn't expect a 5 star hotel , but the comments led me to believe it would be quieter than it was . Guests probably aren't aware of the echoing noise they make moving round the rooms and scraping chairs ...

It all depends on who else is in the house with you at the time . On the Saturday and Sunday someone was walking around the bedroom above me till after 1.30 am , which kept me awake , despite earplugs .But on the Monday night the room seemed unoccupied and I was undisturbed .
