The massive field-stone fireplace is the centerpiece of the large living room. Its original beamed ceiling and paneled walls are in the 1920’s Arts and Crafts style. The living room has a flat screen TV, DVR, Blue Ray DVD player, WiFi, books, games, and a game table. A Dutch door connects the living room with a large covered porch with cushioned chairs, a hammock, and tables and chairs for outdoor dining for 12. The first floor also includes an eat-in Maine kitchen with dishwasher; a formal dining room; a den with flat-screen TV and Blue Ray DVD player; a bath with shower; and a laundry with washer and dryer. Upstairs, there are four bedrooms: two with a queen bed in each, one with two twin beds and one with three twin beds. There is a Pack n Play available for young children. There is also a full bath with a clawfoot tub/shower unit. This peaceful home is located near many desirable destinations: a short walk down Causeway Lane leads to the edge of the ocean and historic Mill Dam causeway, across which lies the Causeway Club’s public golf course; for hikers, a short walk beyond the Clubhouse is Flying Mountain with dramatic views of Somes Sound, the East Coast’s only natural fjord. The center of town is a five-minute walk, with restaurants, shops, library, post office, the Wendell Gilley bird-carving museum, and the free Island Explorer bus provides access to many of the beautiful sights for which Acadia National Park is renowned. Beal’s Lobster Pier is a ten minute walk; there, at the Captain’s Galley, you may order a lobster dinner to eat on their picnic tables overlooking Southwest Harbor, or you may purchase lobsters and seafood to cook at home. Bar Harbor is a twenty-minute drive with many shops, restaurants and museums, and Acadia National Park Headquarters there provides educational programs and literature on scenic areas throughout the Park. Flat-screen cable TVs, DVR, Blue ray DVD players, wireless internet, MW, DW, W/D, heat, fireplace, covered porch, decks, gas grill, lobster kettle. We were in Southwest Harbor for a week staying at the house and it was a wonderful property and location. It had everything we needed for our family and while it is dated it is cozy as well!

This is the kind of Maine home you dream about. Beautiful big fireplace, huge wrap around front porch, lovely details and old time charm. This house was so comfortable for our family of three generations. The location was perfect for everyone. Walk to the working docks and watch the lobster boats go out, or into the town of Southwest Harbor for the cute shops, galleries and restaurants, or to the causeway, which is a hidden gem of tide pools and rushing water. It’s a nice shortish drive to Bar Harbor too. I can’t think of a better way to spend a week or two! And the hosts were wonderful!

We stayed here with our family of 5. It is away from any business, and a very nice place to return to after a day of exploring MDI. The cabin is a bit of a throwback to my grandma's house growing up, which i loved. The place is very clean and accommodating. The living room was so cozy and perfect to sit by the fire on a cool night. The second bathroom is a bit tight downstairs, but it works fine. We also loved cooking our own meals in the kitchen. Thank you!

The cottage was well stocked with everything we needed to cook delicious meals every night and end the evening with a fire in the large stone fireplace. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this beautiful Arts & Crafts home. Very spacious and a large porch for relaxing. Loved that it was tucked away but also convenient to the Main St. It was well equipped and loved the large stone fireplace on cool nights. Will definitely return
