Great central location, lovely roof bar area, good sized rooms some with direct pool access

We had a wonderful 5-night family stay at U Chiang Mai and would happily stay again.
The location is unbeatable, right in the heart of the Old City, making it easy to explore the beautiful temples, with plenty of great cafés and restaurants just steps away. We were also lucky to be there for the Sunday Night Market, which is right outside the hotel and was an incredible experience with so much to see, eat and enjoy.
Breakfast was excellent every morning, with a fantastic selection and attentive service. The hash browns were a particular favourite! We also loved the complimentary lantern-making craft activity held in the lobby one afternoon—it was a lovely touch and something the whole family enjoyed.
Our room was comfortable, the beds were fresh and cosy, and despite being in such a central location, the hotel was surprisingly peaceful and quiet. The staff were all incredibly friendly and welcoming throughout our stay. We also appreciated the thoughtful extras, such as the complimentary rice crackers in the room and the free daily mini-bar drink for each guest.
The only minor downside was the pool. It’s quite small, and it could be difficult to find a sunbed in the evenings when many guests returned from sightseeing and wanted to relax or swim. We also found the food and drinks at the hotel to be quite expensive compared with the many excellent and affordable options nearby.
Overall, this is a fantastic hotel with an unbeatable location, excellent service and thoughtful touches that made our family holiday even more enjoyable. We’d definitely recommend it to anyone visiting Chiang Mai.
