Flåmsbrygga Hotel

We paid a small fortune to stay here because we could step off the train and walk to the hotel. The rooms are nice and we slept well. The town really gets peaceful when the cruise ships leave. The staff was helpful arranging transportation for the next leg of our trip.

The rooms were spacious and clean. The staff was very nice and the food at the restaurant was great.

We chose Flåm and this hotel expecting quiet views of the fjord. This was optimistic—particularly at $1,089 for one night. When we arrived, the 1,200-passenger “Ambition” was docked directly in front of the hotel, completely blocking the fjord. So for $1,089, our “fjord-view” room came with a spectacular, unobstructed view of a cruise ship. It departed around 7:30 p.m., and we briefly discovered that there was, in fact, a beautiful fjord behind it. By morning, the 3,000+ passenger Fabulosa was pulling into its place. Thousands of passengers then poured into tiny Flåm, overwhelming the shops, cafés, and restaurants. Flåm itself is spectacular. But if your vision involves arriving in a peaceful Norwegian village, wandering around spontaneously, and enjoying the tranquil wilderness, check the cruise schedule first. Otherwise, you may find yourself enjoying Norway’s natural splendor alongside 3,000 lanyard-wearing cruise passengers.

Convenient to shops, train and ferry.

The verandah rooms look straight into huge cruise ships .. no real view as implied in description.
