Wonderful pub with great food and friendly staff.
I can’t see at all how this is 5*. I was fairly shocked. The carpets in the hallway of the rooms were dirty and stained. Obviously something had leaked from a radiator. The carpet in the room itself was also stained and grubby. I’d suggest at least a rug over that!!
The toilet didn’t fill up enough to flush properly.
Our rate included breakfast but we were leaving at 4am so asked if they could prepare something to take with us. The answer was no. (I was thinking maybe a croissant and little bottle of orange juice etc - 5* hotels will do this if you will miss breakfast).
More seriously than any of this was the departure. It was very dark at 4am in late October. There were steep and slippery steps down from the rooms but there was no light at all. It was dangerous and pitch black. Again - not very 5* and for the money I would have expected better on all of the mentioned points.

The breakfast was good and the supper was good as well - a cut above pub grub.
The restaurant was cold at breakfast. The heating wasn't on. They could have made up the fire before breakfast.

Location, staff.
Nothing major. Shower did go cold once but worked fine the next time. Some noise from the pub but expected. Nice breakfast
