Fantastic hotel in Arugam Bay - perfect location right on the beach with pool and lovely clean rooms - amazing staff too

We loved our time in Arugam Bay thanks to the kind and helpful staff at Roccos! Beautifully presented hotel right on the beach, with a large clean pool and sun loungers around it and on the beach for private hotel usage. The rooms were simple but comfortable with fans and AC and everything you need for your stay. Everything was kept immaculate and clean and we could ask for fresh towels and sheets as often as we liked. The hotel staff also provided you with towels for the pool / beach, welcome drink on arrival, accommodated our request for a early check in, and arranged for a special meal close by as we had just got engaged. Would definitely recommend and hope to come back soon!

Superb

Loved the pool and beach access. The rooms were also very clean. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful.

There could've been a few more useful things in the room, like a stand to dry clothes. The restrooms could be a little more ventilated.

The stay was ok-ish but wouldn’t come back or recommend the place.

In a good location. Mostly helpful staff. Especially a young man called Hamza. Really went the extra mile for us

Rooms weren’t cleaned regularly. No appliances in the rooms.

Great experience, would highly recommend it.

The beachfront pool is amazing. The staff were very friendly and helpful, always willing to assist (especially Hamza). Close to a few good restaurants on the street and beach. The breakfast was delightful and the juice delicious.

The bed was a little hard and you don’t get a duvet on the bed, only a sheet to sleep under. I would also have liked a minibar in the room. Staff do however let you use their fridge i the kitchen to store drinks brought from outside.

Not worth the investment of money

The location

The location was really beautiful and the view from the room was amazing. But not worth the investment of money. There was no TV in the room, and there was also no soap, shower gel, or shampoo in the washroom. There was a water cut right before check-out, so had to wash with drops of water, which was an extremely unpleasant experience. The staff provided essentially ok service. We had a serving of fried rice or noodles and ice cream for dessert for dinner. We also had dhal curry, coconut sambol, and bread/string hoppers for breakfast. We had to spend 19,000 on these things, which is equivalent to a 3/4 star hotel which we expected similar experience here as well because of the amount of money we spent.

we booked for the location and that’s what we wanted

location amazing breakfast very slow and standard for what you pay at this property you think it would be better

I’m 6ft and the beds are double beds so you’re ferry actually hit the end of the bed without even trying very silly when most people are this size , that was the only thing about the rooms

Not something at all

There is no internet in the hotel Luckily we did not order breakfast, we probably would not have eaten it. The rooms are small, the hotel is relatively new and very dilapidated. The shutter was torn and could not be lifted, the bathroom was smelly. The fan made a lot of noise which in the end we turned it off completely The pool was clean. The location is great.

Since the hotel is built around the pool, it is necessary to set hours when it is possible to make noise. It does not make sense to place a family with babies over the pool and let the youngsters put on music and make noise in the pool until three in the morning. The manager needs to set clear rules and enforce them as well. The guest should not ask other guests to be quiet in the middle of the night Take a tour of the rooms, check what can be fixed in the rooms. Clean the showers thoroughly so that the sewer does not stink the whole room. The shower was clogged in every shower.

we had a great time in Arugambay, but not in Roccos.

the location was great, it was in the middle of arugambay.

It was almost like a hostel, they didn’t clean the room at all, didn’t gave us any new towels. The room was really small and it had a really bad smell, especially in the bathroom. And there were a lot of tourists having some kind of beach parties, and they threw up right in front of our room.

I think, the town is still recovering from post covid slump, but surely coming back to life. However, the staff was great, Sulfi, tharun, arshad, Jamil made the stay super comfortable and made it super holiday Awesome location and property. Must in arugam bay

Place to be

I love this Place. It was my second time here and definitely not the last time. Lovely staff, beautiful garden, amazing pool with seaview and you hear the ocean the whole night. My place to be in Abay!

This hotel has been made in a perfect location for guests those who seek the pleasure by the sea and the pool. Whole atmosphere is very good. Room size is bit small. That’s the only thing I have noticed, rest of the facilities just wow 😊

No TV, dustbin , telephone in room

Beach near the property

There's no TV in the room. No dustbins. No telephone line for room service . No front office number displayed in rooms. No enough cleanliness . We had few power cuts to our room and had to call both times to fix. Bad towels which damaged edges

value for the money and can have a good stay

the property is very near to the beach and downtown , well maintained- even in this Covid period -

less staff members and limited in house restaurant food choices - it may be due to the Covid period - should have bit concentrated on the cleaning near pool area since lots of street dogs entered to the pool area at night time to drink water it’s bit a hygiene concern- other than that it’s value for the money -

Excellent

Hotel location is perfect and main place in Arugambay beach. Room was clean and comfortable. The pool was clean, well maintained and fantastic beach view. I would like to recommend this hotel for locals and foreigners as well.

TV in the room would be preferred. Bathroom's facility must be improve. Front office staff must be well present with the guest, when they check in.

We couldn’t leave fast enough and would never go back

The infinity pool was what attracted us to the property. however the photos could not have been less representative of the reality. the pool was dirty and the garden grounds overgrown and run down.

The staff were rude and extremely unhelpful and in fact could not have done less to help. There were signs everywhere saying “free WiFi” and a “Roccos” network but when we asked for the password were told that they do not have WiFi?! The staff offered no help with luggage (and actually looked away) and my pregnant partner was expected to lug a suitcase up a flight of stairs. The property was dirty, the room had not been cleaned / swept when we got in it. There were used plasters stuck to the dilapidated sun loungers. There was rubbish strewn everywhere close to the rooms. The was one stained towel provided and a dirty sheet to sleep under. The rooms were very noisy - we hardly slept during our first night as there were animals banging and scratching at the doors and Windows. We were woken up at 4.30am by morning prayers. We asked for drinks and this couldn’t have been more of an effort for the staff. We booked and paid for Roccos for 2nights but it was so bad that we left after one. We settled our bill but true to form, they had no change so we actually over-paid for the drinks that we had had.I
