I stayed at the apartments which were on the hill overlooking Jackson airport..which was literally 5mins or so away. the city was around 8-10mins drive (downtown) ..you really need to be prepared for power fluctuations and water cuts however with the hotel having its own water tanks and geneset that helped but be prepared. PNG is truly the land of the unexpected

the 3 bedroom apartment is truly not disable friendly so if you thinking of stay at Gateway I would recommend that you book the rooms and not apartments.

Balcony setting is good. Room is excellent and environment is superb.

The property has been beautifully refurbished and looks fantastic. I also have to give a special shoutout to the shuttle bus drivers — they work incredibly hard, especially handling guests’ luggage, and their customer service was exceptional. They were friendly, helpful and went above and beyond to make our stay more comfortable. A big thank you to the team! We travelled with our children and arrived in Port Moresby in the afternoon, well after the scheduled check-in time. Unfortunately, simple processes such as checking in and checking out took over an hour, which was quite frustrating after travelling with children. We were initially taken to our apartment, however, the building was very old and unfortunately experiencing flooding. Thankfully, we were then upgraded to two rooms in the hotel, which were lovely and much more comfortable. The restaurants on-site are nice and offer a good range of options. However, one area that could be improved is the breakfast service. You are unable to order a coffee directly at the buffet breakfast and instead need to leave the restaurant and go to Enzo to order one separately. This seems like an unnecessary inconvenience and would be an easy service improvement. Lastly, I am still waiting for a K500 authorisation fee to be refunded. It has now been a month since my stay, which is far too long for a simple authorisation hold to be released. Overall, it is a shame because many of these issues are simple hotel protocols that could easily be improved. Unfortunately, the delays, room experience and refund issue took away from what could otherwise have been a much more pleasant stay.

I would not recommend staying in the apartments, as the buildings are very old and quite worn out and do not reflect what is advertised online. I would recommend staying in the main hotel instead, where the rooms are much more modern and comfortable.
