We just loved the calm location where we could instantly unwind at the start of our holiday. We had hoped for a rural Norman idyll with apple trees and a few farm animals (the promised chickens, donkey, poney) thrown in and that's exactly what we got! And then those night skies! We stayed in a 2-bedroom house that was part of a small group of gîtes, with privacy provided by high hedges. Outside we found relaxing sun loungers and garden furniture for al fresco meals. The interior was very tastefully decorated and we loved the photos that showed the restoration work on "our" house. The large beds were really comfortable (firm but not hard mattresses), the bathrooms were beautifully designed and the showers worked brilliantly. The thick walls kept the heat out and this was a rather hot August, but the house didn't heat up if you kept windows and doors shut during the day. There was ample parking and the contact with the owner was good and helpful. The little village is quite peaceful but only a short drive away from market towns and the coast. We quite hope to be back one day!
Being townies it took us some getting used to leaving the french door of the downstairs bedroom open during the night as there were no windows in that room. But the area seemed so safe that eventually we let the cool night air in after all (and lived to tell the tale:-)...). - Sitting outside in the evenings we found the motion-sensor light over the front door very useful, however, it did attract mosquitos and they would then try to follow us inside. Fly screens might be a useful addition but perhaps that's not possible if the houses are listed.

Le calme dans un premier temps ! Il y a plusieurs logements, mais aucun vis-à-vis. Nous avons très bien dormi et avons profité des étoiles filantes allongés dans des transats. Le logement était propre et irréprochable. Nous avions le sentiment d’être en pleine nature tellement les extérieurs sont bien aménagés.
Tout était parfait !

Kleines Idyllisches Häuschen mit Zimmern im shabby chic style.
Küche war eine Gemeinschaftsküche mit der 2ten Wohneinheit. Es gab nur eine halb fertige aber dafür schon alte Küchenausstattung. Fehlende Küchengeräte und abgezählte Teller/Tassen usw. Jeder konnte da rein und sich an allem bedienen was es gab. Hat jedoch niemand zum Glück gemacht. Die Zimmer waren sehr heiß, da hier im Hochsommer bei Temperaturen um die 35 Grad nur Klappläden beim unteren Zimmer vorhanden waren. In der oberen Etage/Zimmer gab es nur Verdunklungsvorhänge und die haben dann nicht viel gebracht. Man hat zumindest eine mobile Klimaanlage bereitgestellt, die aber die Temperatur nicht dauerhaft runtergebracht hat. Klimaabluftschlauch konnte nur ins offene Fenster gelegt und nicht abgedichtet werden. Vermieter sind nett, aber durch die Sprachbarriere kam man nicht gut ins Gespräch. Handtücher gab es jeweils pro Person nur eins. Kein kleines Handtuch nur ein Badetuch. Es gibt im Zimmer keine Haken zum Aufhängen und nur einen kleinen Badezimmer Mülleimer. Waschbecken recht klein. Zimmerreinigung oder frische Handtücher musste man extra anfordern.
