The Old Brewhouse

Room was extremely spacious, clean and beautiful views, mini fridge was a great touch, massive walk in wardrobe and bathroom

After traveling for two weeks, and staying in rooms from bargain to posh, I was expecting a so-so room for the price. What I got was the best room of my trip. While the room was not posh, it was clean, very comfortable, and quiet. The moment I walked, the room smelled clean; an impression that was held up throughout my stay as I saw not a speck of dust. While far from the poshest stay, the bed was the most comfortable. The location was ideal and the sound of waves and seagulls was incredibly relaxing. I was concerend about staying on the weekend above a pub, but I never heard a single sound from the pub. I had three meals in the pub and the food was superb every time. From the helpful and friendly staff to the amazing location, I have not a single complaint about the Old Brewhouse!

I really enjoyed booking the large, sea-facing room, which I felt was good value too. The bed was comfortable, and the bar/restaurant (although I didn't use it) looked nice and was busy. Seafront location was great for views, and the location was only 5-10 mins from pubs and restaurant options.

My only disappointment was that breakfast wasn't offered until 9:30am, which being a longstanding traveller to be very rare (IMHO, this 'absorbs' one's entire morning when you might otherwise want to get out and explore after a nice meal to start). Thankfully the weather was fine, and I went to a nearby hotel/restaurant to eat at 8:00am.

Extremely dated and in need of updating. The floorboards are extremely squeaky, the beds were shaped more like hammocks, the tv didn’t work, no hairdryer in the room, extremely dated decor and coming back to the accommodation at night required access to an outdoor staircase and it was jet black outside to be honest it felt a bit freaky 🫣
