The historical atmosphere, the Queen Margaret suite, drinks in the library, the tasting menu at dinner. Would have liked to buy a book on the history of the castle but there wasn’t one.
The permanent smell of damp in the bathroom, having random people coming up the private staircase to our door in the middle of the night - very unsettling - the ground floor door was often left open. Breakfast was painfully slow. One morning we waited 20 minutes before even being offered a cup of tea. There was a wedding on but that should not affect other guests.

We received a warm welcome of the staff that showed us to our bedchamber upon arrival - which was in one of the highest points of the castle (Gloucester). Room setup was extremely cozy and clean with great views of the rear garden and church. Lounge room had a great atmosphere showcasing it’s great history. Walking the castle grounds and being served tasty food was very nice. Our servant in the restaurant for dinner was very professional.

The Historic buildings and Gardens and good quality food
Cost. We visit as often as we can for the Castle Experience, but are reluctant to spend so much money on one night Dinner Bed and Breakfast more than once per year at the most.
