This was the perfect location. I had a walk out to the private beach and it's just a few minutes walk to the downtown restaurants and bars. Just note that it is not a hotel with all the accompanying facilities, it is a residence, but that was perfect for me.

The location was perfect. Right on the beach.
We booked a 2 bedroom apt suite, which was described as having a living room and two bedrooms and with two bathrooms and a sofa pullout bed. When we got there, the cleaning ladies met us and gave us a 1 bedroom, which included a full-size bed, 1 rollout bed, and 1 sofa , and four of us slept in this one room. They also had another room that was supposed to be the "other" bedroom. But these two rooms were not connected and didn't have a living room space as what we paid for. The room was small and cramped. Unfortunately they didn't speak English and we couldn't communicate with them. The 3rd room we had was not livable because the air conditioning was not working, so we added 2 more girls into each of our rooms. The manager I had communicated with via email prior to arrival was not around to help or make things better. I emailed the manager about our rooms, and he stated we got what we paid for in "2 bedroom with 2 bathrooms." I would never recommend this place to anyone. The hotel takes advantage of foreigners and travelers who can't dispute the rooms they're given because they know we have no other options once we're there. We paid over $1200 per night for the 2 bedroom apt which we did not review and over $800 per night for the room with no air conditioning so we couldn't use it. Nothing was done to rectify these issues. Stay away from this very unethical place that will take advantage of foreigners.

The only good thing about this property is the location. It is strictly a place to lay your head with no amenities. This is not a hotel but an apartment building that rents out rooms on the beach. It’s above restaurants with nightlife so it is quite noisy at night.
The private beach isn’t on the water but it’s a few meters. There’s a private beach club in front of the buildings’ beach so you have to walk over to the crowded public area to access the water.
The hospitality at this place was the worst I’ve ever experienced. Do yourself a favor and stay somewhere else. There plentiful actual hotels nearby that are a similar price (we payed $700 night for this place) and have staff and customer service and standard amenities. The price for what they offer is highway robbery. There’s no lobby or on-site full time staff. When you arrive you call the phone number and eventually someone will come to help you in. There’s no luggage assistance or valet/parking. You have to park up the street and either drag your luggage through the crowds and down lots of steps or hire the local porter service. The air conditioning was broken in the middle of August and our room was a hot box with windows that didn’t open. I called the number provided and it goes to a central answering center to someone who doesn’t work for the hotel so he told us to “email the property”. I sent several emails to the property which went unanswered. They made zero attempt to remedy the situation. The older Italian women on site threw her hands up and shrugged when I finally found her to confront her about the problem and she said someone would come to fix but they never did.
The stark difference between the $700 nightly price of this building and a $700 hotel I stayed at the days prior was quite shocking. We had a beautiful hotel with a private pool over a cliff near Amalfi where we could go into the water with amazing breakfast. The staff was so so kind and treated us like royalty. This was a motel 6.

Management running it were horrible. We were expecting to stay at their other property by the beach where our friends were staying and had reservations at. Instead, two days before our arrival they moved us to another hotel up the mountain of Positano and we had to spend significantly more money on taxis than we budgeted. Whereas before we would have been able to walk everywhere. Very disappointed.

Nothing the AC did not work and the staff was non existent and also not helpful.
The AC did not work. The room was 95 degrees and had bugs. The sheets were dirty. Rosa took advantage of us and charged us more for the city tax than we were supposed to. Half our group got relocated to a different hotel last minute far from us. We ended our trip early because we couldn’t stay here.

We made a very last minute decision to make a weekend trip to Positano. There were very few hotels with availability to accommodate a family of 7. This location had a two bedroom apartment on the beach available. It's old, has no frills, but, the location is absolutely fantastic. We had a great little veranda that overlooked a private area for chaise lounge chairs, we were steps from the beach and along the boardwalk with access to the top restaurants on the waterfront. If location, compared to the hotel experience / amenities is what you are looking for, this is a great choice. If a more luxurious stay is what you desire, this is not the place for you.

Location , near the ferry
The worker can not speak english , and rude to us. We never get any answer . If you wanna just sleep in a place its work.. but so loudy cuz of the location too . But we were so tired didnt hear any voice .

This place definitely exceeded our expectations. It is located directly on the beach with private sun beds area, super convenient location after you arrive by ferry (less than 3min walk). The room was very clean and has everything you need. Beautiful sea view is priceless. Close to shops and restaurants. Great value for money.

Nothing at all! Rudest people ever!
We booked a pick up from the train station and during pick up I was talking to the property manager who failed to advise me that they changed our accommodation, only for us to be dropped off at a different location. When we arrived, we were not given any option but to stay at another “hotel” where we had to walk up and down 38 flights to get to the beach aka 45 mins walk to get back through the stairs. The property manager was rude and told us it is what it is and this is our only option. Mind you the Caravella is next to the beach and we were up on the hill. No refund or discount. They insisted that the hotel we were transferred to was a 4* however they didn’t even bother cleaning it in the 2 nights we stayed in and as a result we had no towels, toilet paper or soap by the end. I guess the hotel was only trying to cover the poor planning of the Caravella who ruined our trip to Positano! Worst place ever! Booking.com should seriously review this place

The location is excelent.
The room and the forniture is very old. We got lost in the beginning there is no sign to how enter the property. There is no reception, no service just a room… we ask for more 20 min to late check out and the madam say no very rude.

the location is impossible to beat! Mario is very good at communicating via WhatsApp. get a room with a sea view!
It was difficult to communicate with some of the staff. I need to learn more Italian next time or have a translator. but like I said, communicating via WhatsApp with Mario solved all our issues :)

The only thing I liked about the place was the convinient location of the beach. It was definitely right there on the main beach and has access to all the near by beach clubs and restaurants. Also the ferry port.
No free WiFi. It was 10€ a day. Not an easy check in. There is not a designated lobby. There were no directions of where to to go inside the building to check in. I can see why the host gets bad reviews. She is not friendly. I grew up with a stern and grumpy step grandmother, and she reminded me of her. I limited my time with her and did not ask for much. Luckily I was only there for one night. It was just a place to rest for one night while I experienced Positano for a day. Would i stay there again? I doubt it. Was it really bad, no because I was only there for one day and I didn't expect much from previous reviews and didn't ask for much like more towels or recommendations for food and fun. Definitely a language barrier as well, but of course that is not her fault. Overall the only thing this place has going for itself is the location. They'll always have business regardless of their reviews. It is the best location because you can hop off and on the ferry with your luggage and not have to worry about stairs. Than head right to the beach front to have fun all day. Good luck! 👍

Great location.
We reserved a two-bedroom flat with living room and were given a one-bedroom flat with no discount. when we complained, we were told we were lucky to have the flat at all and to direct our complaint to Booking.com which did nothing to address the problem.

The only thing that was good about this property was the location. Very little else.
The Check-In process and complete lack of service was incredibly frustrating and disappointing. The one and only gentleman at the property did not speak any English so there was no way to communicate the problems. What is represented as a "Private Beach" is simply a front yard with sand and the Umbrellas were NOT available for use due to "For the Safety of our Customers". What a joke. There were no wind issues and all the Beach Clubs on the actual beach were able to put up their umbrellas. And no beach towels were provided and when we took the bath towels to the beach, when the room was supposedly cleaned, no new bath towels were provided. One afternoon when we came back to the property, the Gentleman in charge was sleeping on one of the chaise lounges. I would strongly NOT RECOMMEND this property.

The beach front view is about the only positive part of this place
Rosa the property manager is completely useless. She sits inside smoking cigarettes and does not assist in anyway at all. We never received beach towels, she refused to open the beach umbrellas on the property, and she tried scamming us out of the large balcony room that we paid for.

The apartments are located right by the beach and it is a beautiful location. The ferry arrives a short walk from this property so you can access it without any other transport. You have access to the beach and all the lovely restaurants and shops that are very close to it.
You have a terrace with and outdoor dining table and free access to sun loungers at the front of the room. The sun loungers on the beach are €35 per day per person otherwise.
We enjoyed our stay and it is perfect is you love the beach and don’t want to walk up steep steps to get everywhere else.
The only drawback although it was quite funny was that as the sign for the apartments is in front of the one we rented new tourists would arrive at our room asking to check in.
This happened about four times while we stayed there. One guy even walked in our room accidentally, he apologised and realised the mistake. They were all good mannered and kind about it. i just pointed them in the direction of the owner of the property and check in happens at an entrance at the back of the property.
It was a lovely place and the owner was very friendly and welcoming.
I’m glad I choose it as it really was lovely and reminded me of a 1920’s hotel in an Agatha Christie novel. Beautiful location.

We were thrilled with the room and our stay in Positano. Enjoying the balcony was a highlight - it had two floors and two bathrooms - we loved having a bathroom in the bedroom. They also offer complimentary beach chairs out front with tables with large umbrellas if it's too hot. Having your own beach, so to speak, was nice. Spaggia Beach was charging $35 euro a chair for the main beach and there was another beach area that was free but it was very rocky. Our beach area had the softest sand and we could just walk down to the water when we wanted to. Everything was right there for us - it was a great spot and a value for the money.
Due to the fact it was a residence and not truly a hotel (think Airbnb ) to check in you must meet with the woman in charge. When we are all used to walking up to a desk and checking in within 20 minutes, it will be disappointing. However, when you remember check out is at 11am and often people start showing up by 1:30 - 2pm to check in and they are trying to clean and prepare apartments rather than just a room, that requires more time. So you might not have the room ready right when you get there and may need to give them a little more time to have it ready. It will also be a good idea to speak some Italian or have a way to translate, the staff is local and do not speak too many languages.

This “residence” should inform their guests or even put a notation on the booking form that there is no road access to them. That you need to call ahead and book porters to carry your cases down from the road to the hotel - which is a steep incline with many steps. This “residence” also has no reception - it is run by an irritable unhelpful woman who kind of hangs around the outside of the hotel. She speaks only Italian. When I asked her to help us on arrival she screamed abuse at us for a good 20 mins before showing us to a room. Apparently it’s the taxi driver job to organize porters to assist with luggage. She continually screamed that this is a residence not a hotel.
There is no “service” to the rooms other than they do clean toilet and hang up towels. However the cleaning lady Clara deserves special mention as she was most helpful. There is no kettle in room. It’s basic. More like a backpacker lodge - there is no assistance here on any matters. Extremely noisy due to thin walls. Infested with mosquitoes.
On positive - It is clean. It has a fridge. There are beach chairs outside for guests to use. And position position. This is probably a better fit for a younger guest.

the only goof thing is the location, nothing else
we were in our honeymoon and we choose this hotel because was very close to the beach, few days before we arrive I received an email from Mario saying that it is not possible to stay in La Caravella (I booked 3 months ago because this trip was our honeymoon) without and explanation and I said that the email that he sent to me was unacceptable and they told me not to worry that my booking was confirmed. The day we arrived, my reservation did not exist (and we had already paid in advance), there was only a woman who works there, and she called a man and I spoke to him on the phone and he was very rude, saying I had a reservation in another hotel, and I told him I wanted to stay near the beach not in the other hotel which was at the top of Positano and I had already paid for that. finally the woman gave us a room.
Even though the hotel was really bad, in the first moment they treat you as if you are not welcome there even before you arrive, I can't say that the service was lousy because there is no service at all, they don't clean the room, they don't make your bed, the shower in the bathroom was broken and it is impossible to sleep because next to the hotel there is a bar/disco with very loud music. This hotel is overrated, there are many better options to stay in Positano much better than this place, please don't make the same mistake we did.
The hotel is a rip off.
