Such a majestic hotel with so much history

Hotel is gorgeous, rooms comfortable , beds soooo comfortable - coming back for sure

Front desk staff was litttle direct and rude! Best to have more friendly and smiley staff than someone that clearly not happy to be there ! First impression matters

Was honestly not expecting much as a lot of the reviews weren't great, however we really loved this hotel! It is an old hotel full of history and charm, a huge complex with very good facilities including a gym, swimming pool and sauna, a proper bowling alley, sports bar, and many places to sit and relax. We didn't try the restaurant because of the reviews but wished we had. Reception staff were v friendly. Breakfast was excellent, a large amount of choice. Our family room had an outdoor terrace to sit with a nice view, beds were v comfortable. We had a standard family room but there are luxury rooms down the other side of the hotel. Location was excellent very near to the train station - get the lift up and walk above rather than the under pass below. This was our mid way stop travelling from Bergen to Oslo, it is very hard to find a hotel in Flam or Gudvangen so we chose to stop at Geilo for the night - Best decision we did! We would have liked to have stayed longer and would definitely stay again if we ever return.

The room was a bit small with not much room for a suitcase. No kettle or tea/coffee in the room, although there is a mini fridge which doesn't make sense. The room has an adjoining door to another room which although locked might make a single woman nervous.

Dated facilities. Indoor jacquzzi under repair, outdoor jacquzzi was cold both nights
