Coconut Lagoon Kumarakom - A CGH Earth Experience

A unique resort, set in a serene natural environment, with beautiful views of the lake. All the bungalows are in a traditional Kerala heritage style. We enjoyed the activities including yoga and meditation sessions, pottery making, bird watching. They have evening cultural entertainment with different performances every evening. A complimentary sunset boat ride was included which was quite good. Overall a very relaxing stay.

Our stay at Coconut Lagoon started beautifully; the boat ride to the property sets a relaxing tone right away, and we received a very friendly welcome. The heritage bungalows are wonderful, featuring large, comfortable beds that ensure a great night's rest. The open-air bathrooms are a fantastic, unique feature that we absolutely loved. We also spent a lot of time cooling off in the swimming pool, which is exceptionally well-maintained. When it comes to dining, the main restaurant serves fantastic quality and quantity for both breakfast and dinner, it is exactly what you want if you are looking to experience fresh, high-quality local cuisine. Another major highlight was the complimentary evening cruise across the lake. It was incredibly relaxing, especially with the live flute music. I also highly recommend the village boat tour; the captain is incredibly knowledgeable and eager to showcase his home village and the surrounding area.

However, a few areas let the hotel down and kept this from being a 5-star experience: • The Yoga Class: The morning session felt more like a lecture/lesson rather than an actual physical exercise class. • Restaurant Transparency: When the buffet was running, the pricing wasn't clearly displayed and we had to ask for it. There was also no mention or offer of the à la carte menu, which actually provides much better value. • Pricing Markups: While a premium is expected for alcohol, the non-alcoholic beverages carried an average markup of close to 1000% compared to retail prices. The poolside menu was also quite limited and overpriced. Because of these steep markups, we decided to skip the massages, which was a shame as I am sure they are excellent.

A beautiful location and very comfortable accommodation. Lots of activities available during the day. We even saw an Indian monitor lizard !

Lunch time we got confused about what we could eat as we only wanted a snack .

The property was beautiful

The staff was extremely rude and unaccomodating The hotel was inundated and many of the experience were closed because of heightened water level but the hotel staff did nothing to accommodate( except for discount on food ) or plan any alternate , very frankly if the condition of the hotel was such the property should have given option to cancel since I found it extremely unsafe given the condition it was, most of the property was flooded and I was scared to walk around out of risk of electrocution and slipping (Infact I slipped and fell once hurting my ankle and back) . This was one of the worst hotel experiences and also one of the most expensive The only upside was it was beautiful no doubt and the nature walk in the morning was genuinely worth it!
