Hotel am Exerzierplatz

The hotel has two buildings in a very quiet area with lots of business offices. The main building with a terrace and the breakfast space is closer to the street. The other building is incredibly quiet - it can feel a bit eerie when there aren't a lot of other guests. A simple but extremely clean room (classic German style hotel room) with very hot water and great water pressure. Friends staying in the main building said that the bathrooms were a little cramped, but in my room I had lots of space. There were "Rolladen"/ shutters that you could use to make the room completely dark if you wanted. I had stayed at another hotel previously for work, but this is more convenient - I could imagine choosing to stay here again.

The reception isn't staffed late in the evening. Someone was kind enough to stick around and let me check in a bit later the first night, but if traffic or trains don't cooperate, a late check in could be a stressful experience. I agree with other reviews that guests might consider bringing their own pillow, but it wasn't something that bothered me after the first night. Some tea addicts might miss their electric kettles (there was a glass and a little tray in the room, but otherwise you're on your own. People who don't drink tap water could buy water at the grocery stores five minutes by foot.) The Wifi was nonexistent in my room, but other rooms closer to the main building apparently had a better connection.

The hotel looked nice, but our room was in another building across the street that was not so nice. The man at the reception only spoke German, so it was difficult to communicate.
