La Cuesta Casa Chameleon- Bear in mind the hill if you aren't the most fit.

Wonderful views, great food and service. Lovely personal service with great communication. It really does a great job with the indoor outdoor bridging with a gentle breeze from the ocean into most of tye spaces which you will be very grateful for in the heat. The jungle is right up to many of the balconies, with lovely planted pathways connecting the different spaces. We managed to see so many animals while just playing on the terrace. It was a wonderful stay all round and a high bench mark for the start of our first stay in Costa Rica yet to be beat.

The only thing I would say to be aware of is the steep hill to and from beach on quite a rough road. It's walkable but tiring. No problem if you had a vehicle though and the local taxi drivers and car hire folks take it in their stride. It's probably more of an issue due to us being from Scotland and not used to the climate.

Mal país is a beautiful town. Casa chameleon was even better.

Exceptional

The most incredible room in a beautiful hotel. All the staff were a delight and were so quick to help us with anything and everything we needed. Food/breakfast was lovely and we were able to eat it in our room a couple of mornings. The room was one of the most amazing rooms we’ve ever stayed in. Huge private pool in the jungle, super private, so much space, amazing bath, and you can even see the sea!

My husband and I had an amazing two-week stay for our honeymoon, and we couldn’t have chosen a more perfect place.

The property itself it’s so beautiful and tropical with some of the most amazing views. It is located 5 min to Santa Teresa, where there were so many things to do and explore. Our Villa was perfect for our two-week stay, and every single staff member we encountered were so kind and accommodating. We felt like royalty during our stay, and would love to come back.

The one and only feature we weren’t too fond of was that the bathroom and bedroom were separated by a wall with an open ceiling concept, and no door for the entrance. The toilet had it’s own stall and saloon style doors.

Amazing place with a great view and very friendly staff.

The staff is very friendly and gave us good indications of what to do in the area. The view of the room is amazing, the bed is very comfortable and the toilet is very spacious. Breakfast was really good.

The toilet and swimming pool could have been cleaner.

Super staff (they even fixed my flat tire), great room, great views. Staff was super nice, they did everything in their power to make our stay great. Food is excellent

The road to the hotel is very bad, it is highly recommended that you have a 4x4 car (also to tour the area) it would be nice to have moquito net on the terrace door so that i could leave it open for the night

Romantic retreat with beautiful views.

We loved our stay here. The room was very comfortable, with a plunge pool and an ocean view. The staff was amazingly friendly and helpful. The food was very good.

I would recommend against the private snorkeling tour if you don't want to fish. The snorkeling nearby isn't great. Isla Tortuga was much better (although you have to contend with tourist multitudes.)

Restaurant service was great and Diego the waiter was always very attentive with us.

Staff at the reception were rude. The bedroom wasn't cleaned one day and the answer was that the cleaning staff forgot and that this is a current problem they have because their staff cannot knock at the door. Iron board wasn't provided when we requested the iron, the reception staff said they didn't have an iron board and that we had to iron our clothes on the bed, pretty poor...

Romantic retreat

Perched at the top of the hill with sweeping views it’s definitely quiet and gets away from the bustle of Santa Teresa. Romantic and private rooms that have all the thoughtful details required. The service was very attentive and friendly and the pineapple Collins was a delicious cocktail that we enjoyed throughout our trip.

A few hiccups with the rural water access but nothing to blame and totally understandable and they usually fixed it right away.

Amazing! We felt so spoiled and relaxed! This was my favorite place to be at in Costa Rica! The staff was so friendly and welcoming!

It is quite a walk up the hill from the main road and the beach.

Amazing location below average service

The pool and the view is amazing! The villa has a lot of room Lots of animals visible from the villa

The front desk was not professional at all, first of all they ignored our request to extend our stay so I had to book another one separately on booking.com (what hotel doesn’t answer to such requests?) And they didn’t even know about it when we checked in... they didn’t present us the area nor told us about what we could do in the area. Our waiter Andy was the most helpful and gave us some great suggestions on what to do! The second day we found a needle in the outdoor shower... to which the front desk just said “sorry for the inconvenience” and basically ignored our concerns. Adding to that, the same day, when we came back from the beach our room was not cleaned because we were supposed to request maid service ? Which was ridiculous because we met the maid in the morning and told her to come at 12:00... Overall the villas are a bit aging and need a bit of remodeling, also the pool’s “waterfall” randomly starts during the night which often woke me up because it’s quite loud Not really a complaint but water in the minibar is 5$ whereas beer is 4,5$ and coke 2,5$ ridiculous isn’t it ? Given the price per night the service is way below standard

The most romantic vacation EVER!

The most romantic vacation I have ever taken. Everything from the room to the staff was perfect. The food was healthy and amazing. You won't regret booking this vacation. I can't wait to go back.
