Very good

quiet and romantic accomodation. nice view into the Bay of Islands.

for winter time more options to hang clothes needed. in particular we had a rainy time in Paihia and it was difficult to get clothes dried well w/o using the tumble dryer. a laundry basket for moving the laundry would be a helpful tool for doing the laundry.

This cottage had everything we needed and suited our purposes perfectly.

Nice self contained and secluded cottage. Close to main area of Paihia with an awesome outlook over the Bay. The Proprieor was very helpful and attended to our needs very well.

Perfect base for our family to stay.

Beautiful view, bush, town, sea, islands,treaty grounds from deck and bedrooms and living area; kitchen, able to cook meals on site, and laundry facilities, spacious bedrooms, comfy. Short walk to town.

beautiful views with helpful, friendly staff.

view was fantastic. bedroom 1 & 2 at front of house had lovely views. Hosts were warm, friendly & helpful.

3rd bedroom was extremely pokey and couldn’t fit a suitcase in. A hot room which needed the portable fan on all night. Air conditioning or overhead fans are needed. Gurgling coming from bathroom all night needs looking at.

Alluring view and interior

The cottage sits in its eyrie above Paihia with a great view of the town, the wharf area, and the Waitangi Treaty grounds and the Bay of Islands coastline. Ruth and John make sure you will have the best time I Paihia from the moment you book the cottage. They live next door if you need anything. It is a warm retreat with everything you could need in a two bedroom home. Great kitchen and comfortable lounge area. The main bedroom has a huge closet and great, comfy king size bed. John came for a visit every evening to check how our day had been and to talk of places to go and people to meet. There are a number of cafes, restaurants and bars in the town if you aren't of a mind or mood to cook. I can recommend Zane Greys bar on the pier (not the restaurant) for drinks and dinner after returning from a cruise in the bay or a coach trip to the Cape. John runs a great website that you should check out for hints and tips.

A washing machine would be a great addition. The parking area for our little car was fine, but it may be a little tight for a big 4WD.

Stunning views

The views are stunning. So nice to sit on the deck and enjoy the views Accommodation was comfortable and had everything we needed. Great size for family of 4.

a very enjoyable stay

We were in the two bedroom cottage, across a courtyard from the main house. We had a private deck with great views over Paihia. The cottage was comfortably furnished and well equipped. It was up the hill, away from any town noise.

Access to a washing machine and dryer would have been welcome.

Great spot, fantastic hosts, we hope we can stay there again one day.

Property was exactly what our family of 3 needed. BBQ dinner each night, daughter to bed and a beautiful view for an evening drink.

Can’t complain about anything really.

Beautiful view. very spacious and comfortable. Great space for families, had our 1yr old moko and it was perfect for him too

Dryer was playing up, was quite warm in the whole house. Fans were provided but very noisy ones

Great location, great hosts, large unit

Low water pressure, being resolved in the next week with high pressure system. Could not get dryer to work. With both of these resolved (next week), would rate as excellent across the board

Generally good

Great location and great views - comfortable in size and living.

Toilet was tiny with no ventilation for more than 4 people, not good at all. The bathroom was fine but the shower was TERRIBLE, a piddle of water and esp for the cold and older people it was yuck! It really ruined it. Parking wasn't good either, esp for a family coming with a few cars.

Great stay, despite the weather

Traveling with a three-year-old and six-month-old it was great to have the extra space of a three bedroom house, especially when the weather meant we spent more time at home than we’d planned to. Being halfway through a 10-day trip, we also appreciated the full kitchen and laundry facilities. We were also pleasantly surprised how warm the house was. Hosts were lovely and very accommodating.

Nothing. There has obviously been a bit of water damage at some stage but the owners are currently doing repairs to remedy that, and those repairs didn’t impact our stay at all.

Excellent family getaway

The peaceful serenity was exceptional! With breathtaking views over bays. And was very happy to find a bookshelf with books and dvds and games for the kids!

The water pressure in the shower was pretty weak unfortunately. And the three bedroom unit needs a wifi extender as the Netflix/ web based apps do not work on the tv due to the router being too far away

The owners live on the property and are renovating their house so it was a messy construction site outside the cottage. The driveway and parking area are tight especially with building material lying around.
