well designed room and bathroom

no oven or combi microwave in kitchen - no kettle to boil water although coffee maker did this it was very slow.

The room was beautiful and clean. The setting was absolute charm. I strongly recommend it.

I really didn't appreciate having to pay a deposit that was more than my whole stay.

9 / 10Outstanding·Oct 2026

Staff were brilliant! Very accommodating, friendly and helpful. The meal in the restaurant was fantastic followed by a drink in the very homely bar area. Stayed in the main building which had a large bedroom and bathroom.

The pre-arrival options were slightly confusing. I was looking forward to a breakfast after having such a nice evening meal but Bankton House unfortunately don't offer breakfast. That said, the staff did point us in the direction of a really nice local breakfast place.

Not far from Edinburgh and it’s very close to the train station. Free parking, comfortable beds

Expensive for what you get. Room is simple with worn out furniture. Bathroom is incredibly cold and there is no towel warmer
