Excellent and comfortable stay

We had an excellent stay in Apartment by the Sea, which quite spacious, nicely furnished with modern amenities, well stocked kitchen and excellent views opening up to the waterfront, great views of sunset and sunrise and close proximity to shops & restaurants in Hofn. The hosts / owners were also quite friendly and welcomed us when we arrived to show us around and made us feel comfortable.

The location of this place being in the far corner of the town, so have to go thru bit of port/industrial area, but that is over come by all the other things the place had to offer.

Perfect Cottage by the Sea

We absolutely LOVED this cottage by the sea. I call it a "cottage" because (in my mind) instead of an "apartment" it seems to describe this freestanding lodging (with no other lodging nearby) better to me. This two bedroom, living room, dinning/kitchen, bath (with washing machine) was perfect for the 3 of us. There was plenty of room to relax without feeling cramped for space. As you approach the cottage, the area looks a bit industrial but don't let that put you off. Once you see the sign "Apartment by the Sea" you feel like you are in a time gone by. The cottage offers privacy, with an unbelievable view of the sea dotted with islands. On a calm morning it is the perfect place to enjoy your morning coffee. We even spotted a seal taking a morning swim. There are several lovely restaurants within walking distance and the town has some shops and walking trails to enjoy. This town doesn't feel touristy but rather authentic Iceland. The owner met us at the apartment with the key and answered our questions.....as he was at the shop next door.....that was a surprise bonus.... the owners also own and operate a lovely boutique shop connected to the cottage giving 20% discount to renters. The building is a historic fishing processing site and built to withstand the strong winds common in this area. There are pictures inside of the original use of the building...oh, what would those fishermen think now. We loved this town and this lodging and highly recommend it.

Beautiful, private apartment with great amenities and views!

Wonderful apartment with a beautiful view of the mountains and harbor!! We met Olöf and Johann upon arrival- they run the attached shop and were very friendly (the shop is very cute and I could have spent a lot of money there if I had more room in my suitcase!!). The property is located on the outer edge of the harbor/industrial part of the town, though it was a quick walk (and even quicker drive) to the quaint restaurant area. The apartment was spacious, very clean and had everything we needed and more for a one night stay in Hofn. It was also very peaceful with no neighbors or traffic. I wish we’d had more time here! Would definitely recommend and would come back again if in the area.

The apartment was very clean & relaxing . Great location , Netto supermarket within walking distance . Hosts were very friendly & remembered us from our previous visit . Will definitely stay again.

Great Location to stay In Hofn.

This is a great place to stay. Two bedrooms, a great living room and a kitchen that is well stocked. The great thing for a trip to iceland was the washing machine. We were able to do our laundry and be ready to go in the morning... everything dried without need for a dryer. The owner came down to answer any questions and we can't say enough about the great accommodation.

- apartment inside is amazing and cozy so don't be scared with photos of outside look of building - very warm welcome from owners, receiving local tips

- The building would deserve to be painted from outside, but this is not reflected in cozy inside feel and look of apartment. - beds were softer (up to personal preference)

Simply great !!

A great location « by the sea » totally calm at the end of a sreet. The contacts were quick and very nice, efficient and very cool. The house is very well equipped, very clean, very comfortable, tastefully decorated and we were welcomed with all the products for the bathroom. No problem parking the car just in front of the house. Simply great !

Great stay in a cute little town.

Really cute apartment with comfy beds and very warm host. Great views of the water and very clean.

Hofn is a small town but this is located far from the main restaurants and grocery store though they are less than a 5 minute drive away. Has a washer but no dryer though our clothes were able to air dry overnight. Host provided laundry detergent which was helpful.

Would definitely stay here again.

We got there at noon instead of 7pm. They were so accommodating. They rushed right over and let us check in early. The place was so clean and smelled amazing. Nothing was out of place, not even dust anywhere. They told us good places to eat and visit.

I was a little nervous since this is in a little more industrial area. I shouldn't have worried. This place was great and totally safe.

Nice apartment for shot stay in interesting location

Apartment is stylish, clean, with small details which are very sweet, but kitchen equipment should be updated. Building looks terrible outside, but inside is nice.

Some kitchen equipment needs to be replaced. Kettle was terrible, there aren’t dishwasher.

This property was exceptional. The host was super & even came in the morning to clear the snow off & around our car . The apartment itself was modern , clean & had really comfy beds . it was so relaxing . Supermarket very near by walking distance .

There was nothing we didn’t like about this property .

an OK stay. I would not highly recommend it but there is not many choices in Hofn.

Very clean unit. Privacy. Easy parking. Spacious enough.

Location was on outskirts of industrial area. The unit was created from a shop, it did not look like a conventional accommodation. No TV set and very weak Wi-Fi. No dishwasher. No dryer, no warm towel rack - in that wet climate you need something. Small bathroom was getting very wet and extremely slippery after shower.

Nice decor and comfortable

Kitchen had minimal kitchen furnishings. Geared towards a light breakfast and eating dinner out. Located on the edge of town in a light industrial area. No shoping or restaurants within walking distance.

Superb

The best stay in our whole trip. Nice cute apartment by the sea with amazing view. We regret that we arrived too late and did not have a chance enjoying the apartment more. The hosts are very nice couple. We definitely will recommend this place to our friends and hopefully will come back to enjoy more!

Great place to stay!

An excellent apartment- very clean, comfortable and plenty of amenities. The location is a little off the beaten path, but it was very secluded and a great option for two couples.

We enjoyed our stay at the Apartment by the Sea and would recommend it to others.

We liked that the host met us to hand over the keys. Olaf showed us the apartment and gave us recommendations for dining. She even contacted us after check-out about an item we had left behind. Very friendly! We liked how bright and clean the apartment was, and the cookware was clean as well. And washcloth mitts . . .what a bonus!!

The apartment was cozy for four adults, not much room for laying out suitcases. At first glance, the outside of the building looked like it needed some upkeep. However, the inside was very nice! The property was a bit pricey, but not out of line for Iceland.

Home away from home

This property is spotless from the inside. You instantly feel at ease and comfortable. It’s very cozy and the neutral colours just add to the relaxation. It’s equipped with a mini fridge, oven, hob and very handily a washing machine. There is no microwave or TV, but we didn’t need either. There is a Netto supermarket 3 minutes away. The owner recommended Pakkus restaurant and it didn’t disappoint. I would recommend this property

Bedrooms perhaps could benefit with blackouts.
