Charming Stay

A very lovely little guest house in the mountains, with lots of charming decor that reminded me of my grandma’s. There is a very friendly donkey named Pocky, a house full of rescued cats, as well as a fluffy black dog named Bond; I was able to pet all three after asking the very friendly owner. She also showed me another cat she had in the main house who was very fat and lovable, and gave me a delicious ear of sweet corn to eat while I was sitting on the patio donkey-gazing. The room itself is also charming, and I appreciate the fact that there’s a sink in the room. There are two separate bathrooms and two separate shower/bath rooms, so I never had to worry about waiting. There is a fridge where you can store food, a microwave to reheat, and free hot tea. I enjoyed walking around nearby, as well as eating at the little cafe ~4 mins away. Next time I’m in Furano, I would like to stay here again.

Do not come here if you do not have a car. It’s 30 mins from the nearest train station walking uphill, which is quite painful with a suitcase. To access Farm Tomita, you also have to walk ~30 mins. I ended up just staying on the mountain for my trip and wandering around nearby instead of doing more around Furano & Biei.

Experience in the countryside

We booked this place for the proximity to farm tomita which we planned to visit early in the morning before the crowds so location was great for that. The house itself is located in a very quiet area and gives you a true feeling of the countryside. Staff were helpful - we had initially issues with icy cold shower but they came over and fixed the problem thankfully

We stayed at the one bedroom house which is not attached to the main house where the facilities were though it is a few minutes drive away in case of emergencies. This also meant no breakfast was provided.. and there are no stores nearby if you plan to set out early. We bought bread from the night before but there is a kitchen if you wish to cook. The interiors were quite dated but overall decent, homey and clean. Toilet is right at the door but shower is way further back by the kitchen which is a strange layout but seems common in Japan. Only one aircon is located in the living room to serve the entire house. Probably if you are a family of 4 it is better to book the rooms at the main house and use the common bathrooms for better convenience.

A basic pension close to Tomita Lavender Farm

Affordable, free parking, cute donkeys.

Paper thin walls, you can hear everything, unstable wi-fi, a long way to the toilet downstairs from the second floor rooms.
