The view was incredibly beautiful. The guides were professional, friendly, helpful and considerate. The food was good.

The views from the lodge are incredible - the best of all the lodges we came past when rafting downstream from Pacuare River Lodge, even better than the one from Buena's Pacuare Lodge. The food was very good too - simple, but fresh and cooked from scratch.

It was all in the natural setting, beautiful canyon, lots of birds to see. Staff was friendly, food plentiful, the rafting in and out excellent!
There was no electricity, which I was prepared for, but I always feel strange with no light in the bathroom at night.

If you want a place in nature, with very basic facilities, this is it. There is no electricity so by 6.00pm when it gets dark you can just have your dinner and turn in early. We stayed 3 nights, which seems to be unusual. Most people raft in one day, and raft out the next. This is a shame...it's so nice to take some time just doing nothing...bird watching and reading basically! Saw lots of toucan and many small colourful birds, including humming birds.
Walter was our guide and cook. A man of few words and a great cook. Breakfast, lunch and dinner were excellent every day. Then he was our rafting guide as we opted to take the raft trip out...20kms down the Pacuare River, with lots of white water. I was really scared to do this, but Walter was so experienced and gave such clear instructions that I soon relaxed and really enjoyed the trip, even though I fell overboard! Walter made the whole trip feel safe and I cannot recommend him highly enough.
I have read many complaints about the place, but I think if you read all the info before you book, then there is no point in complaining about how basic it is. They make everything very clear.
A couple of hours of electricity a
day would have been really helpful....Just to charge phone as it is my only camera. There was a light switch and a power socket in every cabin, so maybe the situation will change.
