The owner met us on arrival, absolutely lovely. The house is amazing, fresh break and pastries every morning in the basket just outside the front door. Fridge stocked with necessities.

Yes it may be a little distance from the centre of Porto ( no bad thing being at peace from the noisy throng?),and you do have to take care on entering the main gateway, ( we had a Volvo X60 and negotiated gingerly the historic portal), but this all pales in comparison to the truly exceptional personal attention we received from the staff!! We were greeted with a genuine warmth of welcome by Barbara and Claudia , and later by Pedro and Patricia. Nothing was too much trouble to make us feel comfortable and at home. There is an atmosphere of peace and kindness that seems to exude from the thick stone blocks of this 19th century manor house that has been expertly restored. The breakfast is delicious, wholesome and satisfying and will be set you up for your day exploring the beauty of valleys and coastland. The Douro valley is a must..and the staff have great suggestions for places to visit. My greatest compliment has to be that I want to return ASAP!!
