Hotel Katoen

The loft is very practical with a family. The couch bed is easy to set up. The apartment is spacious, clean and tastefully decorated. The breakfast was amazing and had lots of variation. The staff was friendly and helpful.

We had a really good time, but we had to spend sometime figuring out the lights. One light bulb seemed not to work. And because we travelled with kids it would have been nice to have the hallway light stay on as a sort of nightlight, but they automatically turned off. So we just left the bathroom light on with the door open.

A Lovely welcome and quick check in from very polite lady who personally showed us to our room. Nice touch where the Aircon was previously turned on ready for our arrival on a 30 degree day and we entered a beautiful cool room. Well done!

Very oversized shower head, with extremely fine spray took age to get you wet!

Very slick, urban cool, nicely kept hotel. Perfect to explore the zeeland region and to go to Oesterij in yerseke to have the best oysters and lobsters straight from the water to the table. Hotel restaurant is very good. Staff is super nice.

As many similar level hotels these days, the owners chose to go slick and cool but Ikea style: I.e. all looks good in photos but materials are all fake: lots of formaldehyde, hydrocarbons and so on in the construction of tables, chairs, wardrobes all: tiles, tabletop, furniture, floors are all synthetic. It is a shame. It is also unhealthy: just bring along a chemical detector - an Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) Monitors, permanent chemicals (PFAS), HCHO / TVOC Detectors, or Formaldehyde Meters and test it. It is shocking…no fault to the owners; they probably relied on architects and contractors. But if guests bring along a detector and test the materials and the air in the room it will become obvious that one shouldn’t set foot in and rather find a place with WELL certified or PURE certified rooms in LEED certified buildings — problem is: none such hotel I believe exist in zeeland. The same happens in food or healthcare: the world is selling aspirational products (in this case rooms in a hotel) but the quality is not authentic: gone are the marble tops, oak furniture, larch lovely smelly wood and here comes the “looking good bit it is all plastic and gives you cancer but you will find out later”. Therefore no intentional fault to the owners just a word of caution to guests: perhaps raise the standards one can control staying in a private house where materials, health and authenticity is a key principle across furniture, construction, the owners themselves

The room was exceptional and the breakfast was terrific! We would have liked to eat at the hotel restaurant the evening we checked in but it was booked.
