Great location and great staff
The menu is very seafood based and would have liked some more other type dishes. Many courses are repeated during the week so would like some more variations

A beautiful small hotel in a secluded, quiet location but easy to travel to and from thanks to the complimentary shuttle bus service.
The receptionist was friendly, welcoming and extremely thoughtful in helping us make the most of our short stay on the Island.
We had some great meals at the hotel - the risotto is stunning.
The landscaping makes brilliant use of the tranquil location and stunning views.
It was spotlessly clean - rooms, communal areas and pool.
Although the quality of food, speed of service and setting of the restaurant were excellent, we were not shown a wine list and therefore had no way of knowing what the wine would cost. The one we were recommended had a standard restaurant mark-up (at 45 Euros - fair for what it was). However, we only found out the price when we checked out of the hotel.. It would have been more courteous to explain in advance what to expect.

What was most remarkable about the Hotel Grifo was its staff. The maitre d' Enzo treats the guests like personal friends that he has invited for dinner, and astonishes with his impeccable German; one of the receptionists used her car in her free time to fetch our bag which we had forgotten in a taxi; my friend was ever so happy when she got rid of an ingrown toenail in the pedicure session at the hotel. We liked lots of other things, too, like the food for breakfast and dinner, the spacy room, the view from the balcony onto the sea
The hotel lies somewhat remote. We liked some of the places around Lacco Ameno best, but you can only reach them with your car or the always crowded public buses. Of course the hotel has a shuttle, which drives to Ischia harbour several times a day, but from there you have to face standing in the buses. I think the hotel and Ischia in general should not be so dependent on the automobile. What about e-bikes, traditional bikes or hiking?

Restaurant manager was excellent. Pool was nice. Superb bonus of mini bus service into the town. This was essential due to the location, but this was very much appreciated.
The room was described as having a garden. Please note this was not private and your shared it as it was in front of other rooms. The pillows needed replacing. Breakfast was only ok. The air conditioning had problems during our stay, it was leaking. It appears to be a privately owned hotel and they have a lot to learn in operating as a hotel attracting modern visitors. There was no room service offered during the day, they seem to do what they always have done and do not seem to want to change or learn from feedback. The staff were always pleasant. These comments are to help their future direction.
