Grifo Hotel Charme & SPA

All staff were very welcoming and always helpful and efficient. They made a point of calling us by our names which made it more personal and we enjoyed them taking the time to be chatty - and correct my Italian. The facilities were great. The pool was clean and warm and there were always plenty of sun loungers available. The mineral pool was relaxing. The complimentary use of spa facilities was a bonus and particularly helpful on a rainy day. We also had a massage each which I thoroughly enjoyed. Breakfast had an excellent choice of cereals, fruit & yoghurts, cold meats plus scrambled or boiled eggs and the selection of cakes were all delicious and fresh - some even homemade. Freshly made cappuccinos and espressos were appreciated. We also had dinner a couple of nights which combined traditional cuisine with a modern twist. All delicious and professionally served by Enzo. The complimentary shuttle bus service between hotel and Ischia Porto was a great help when we couldn't face the walk uphill, as was the offer to be collected from a nearby bus stop outside of shuttle hours. It gave us a great case from which to explore the whole beautiful island of Ischia. The hotel being uphill was not a big problem for us as we enjoy walking and the views (especially from the hotel solarium on the roof) were outstanding, but I could see it being a hindrance to some people to have to rely on the shuttle. Our annexe room was really spacious and comfortable.

Everything! The pool, the spa, the view, the staff, the food!

Nothing at all - it was wonderful

The cleanliness of the hotel and the friendly staff. The hotel is family run so attention to detail is faultless. The pool and bathing areas were excellent. There was a free shuttle service back and to the town and port areas which was really handy. Rooms were light airy and immaculately clean.

The fact that you had to pay for bottled water and that there was no tea/coffee making facilities.

Restaurant manager was excellent. Pool was nice. Superb bonus of mini bus service into the town. This was essential due to the location, but this was very much appreciated.

The room was described as having a garden. Please note this was not private and your shared it as it was in front of other rooms. The pillows needed replacing. Breakfast was only ok. The air conditioning had problems during our stay, it was leaking. It appears to be a privately owned hotel and they have a lot to learn in operating as a hotel attracting modern visitors. There was no room service offered during the day, they seem to do what they always have done and do not seem to want to change or learn from feedback. The staff were always pleasant. These comments are to help their future direction.
