The rooms have balconies that oversee the internal courtyard which is quite pleasant. My room was huge. The hotel has little nooks and crannies which are delightful. They also leave a 24h self-service area where you can make your own tea from a varied selection of teas, it was very comforting. Breakfast also was a pleasant surprise it had a wide range of offerings.

The hotel is beautiful and just around the corner from the palace (where there is ample parking) and all other sights in Vila Vicosa. Our double room exceeded our expectations - we had a separate large lounge area and two terraces overlooking the pool and central area.
Breakfasts are varied with hot and cold options. The scrambled egg, in particular, was very good. Somehow we managed to resist the two types of cake on offer (one carrot with a chocolate topping). There is a kettle with tea and coffee which guests can use throughout the day, which we particularly liked. There is also a fascinating little vintage clothes shop on site, which we only visited at night (when it was closed) but seemed very reasonably priced.
Unfortunately - as is usually the case in Portugal - the pool isn't heated, which meant it was a very short dip for me! Everything else was perfect.

Wonderful pink marble town. Just one minute walk from the Ducal Palace. A must see at only 8 euros to view 35 rooms.
Lov ed being able, at no cost, to pop down into restaurant anytime to help yourself to free coffee, tea and spring water.

The building has some lovely spaces for guests to enjoy. Our suite overlooking the pool was spacious with an adjoining comfortable seating area and nice balconies . The 4 poster bed was very comfortable. There was music available in all rooms . We found street parking near the hotel. Good restaurants, the palace and castle are a short stroll. The staff were very friendly, especially the lady running the breakfast room. The breakfast selection was good.
It would be great to have tea and coffee making in the room.

It is a fantastic building in the heart of the old town, centrally located and not far from the Praco Ducal.
It is a nice surprise to have a swimming pool in an historical building. There are a lot of cosy common spaces.
The room is well sized, modern, bright and comfortable.
Breakfast was good with a nice selection of local specialities.
Parking near the hotel is an issue. The only place to park is at the Praco Ducal.
Maintenance of this beautiful property could be improved.

Lovely pool and garden area. Exceptional varieties of breakfasts. Good location and it was easy to park on the street and unload baggage at the door.
No plugs for phone chargers. Had to unplug a lamp to charge my phone. Only 1 face towel provided on a room for 2, but to be fair I didn't ask for another and just used the little hand towel.

The hotel looks small but in fact is one of the bigger during our trip. Personel is friendly and helpful. The swimming pool inside the hotel is nice atraction. Very good brekafast.

My parents loved the experience, as I booked as a birthday present for them. They kept sharing with us some videos and photos. I was so happy because they were loving it, especially in my mum's birthplace.

Very well organised hotel with very attentive staff.
Rooms very clean and were kept nicely at 26 degrees C, with is just lovely after a day out in 35+ degrees.

This is by far one of our favorite hotels. We stayed at the hotel the first time already more than 10 years ago and it is a pleasure to come back every now and then. Everything is perfect here for adults and kids. The breakfast is excellent, the rooms are very comfortable and the playroom is outstanding. Thank you to all staff. You do an excellent job.

We loved everything, from Karin at the front desk, to the spacious room, the location , the breakfast. Parking easy , 2 min to the square(parked in front on the Palace) The bed super comfortable, crisp white sheets, lovely pillows.
The attention to detail in this hotel is amazing, so much thought has gone into the decor and furniture.
The way the breakfast is laid out , with everything covered and labelled, the presentation is sublime. I loved all the colored furniture, so different from any where else in Portugal.

This was one of the best stays during our trip to Portugal. The property is very nice and our room was big and comfortable. There was plenty of parking available and the location in the heart of the town is wonderfull for a night stroll. This was also one of the best breakfast we had during our trip, the cured meat was absolutely delicius. They also have a very nice looking swimming pool that looks wonderful for summer.
Probably the only minor defect of this hotel is that I couldn't connect to my netflix account on the tv. However, they have a very good selection of channels so I was able to find something I could understand.

Whe always spend beautiful time at Mascarenhas. The building is close to Paco Ducal 5 minutes walk from the city center.Cozy and clean with a modern touch.At the Breakfast buffet you can find all you need.In the summer time you can relax by rhe swimming pool.

the location was. good , and the staff were very friendly and helpful , the breakfast was good plenty of choice.
The hotel itself needs updating , the rooms have no internet access ,the taps in the bathroom were old and leaking, the water wasn’t very hot when having a shower.

Stayed the weekend with family, staff friendly and helpful, child friendly, excellent location, very good restaurant opposite the hotel, would definitely go back again.
