The hotel itself was beautiful and exactly what we'd been hoping for, but it fell short as I'll explain in the next question.
It's taken me a couple of weeks to write this, as I didn't want to be as harsh as I was feeling about our stay at Hotel Briqueterie right after we left. We were traveling with friends and this was our last stop before Paris and we wanted to splurge a bit. I'd booked 2 rooms in February and we stayed there in September. We were assigned a handicap room, which was fine if it was the only room left, but we'd booked MONTHS in advance. The bathroom wasn't ideal for us as the toilet and shower were all in one. Please don't imagine that I don't appreciate the handicap facilities, as they were great if needed, but fortunately for us at this time, they were not. There was also no cold water in the tap for brushing teeth and we went to the front desk 3 times to get help, with no solution other than getting a bottle of sparkling water (not ideal for brushing teeth!) The one time I spoke with the concierge about our room, he asked if I'd just booked it recently. When I told him I'd booked in February, he was genuinely surprised! The staff were all very nice and super friendly, but we were disappointed in our stay. There was a very large group of 30-40 guests, I'd say, who were extremely loud and they had a live band playing on our last night until almost 1:00 a.m. in the morning. This is not a large hotel where one might expect that and I would have assumed that the hotel management would have closed down the band at least at a reasonable hour, out of respect for the other guests in the hotel. Unfortunately our room was at the other end of the hall on the same floor as the bar, so we heard everything! I would have loved to give this hotel a higher rating, but it was disappointing. It certainly didn't ruin our time in the Champagne region, but we absolutely expected a lot more from the hotel for what we were paying.
