The staff were great

I've done over 20 different safaris throughout Africa and Modlito exceeded every expectation I had. The food is absolutely fantastic, with some of the best tasting African and international dishes I've ever tasted. Ostrich meat was superbly prepared. I booked this lodge as a last-minute, short stay while enroute to Cape Town. It was super helpful to be picked up at East Gate airport in Hoedspruit (included in the price). The lodge itself has some facilities I didn't have time to utilize, like a fitness building, pool, lobby with books, etc. The location, being close to Hoedspruit, puts it closer to the R40 road and a train line (sometimes audible) but that's also what makes the lodge super accessible. While there I saw the big 4 (you don't go to the Leopard, the Leopard comes to you, always as a surprise). Saw some of my faves, like cheetah and a fluffy bushbaby. Note that the location did not stop the animal activity, it's just something to be aware of; this isn't the most secluded lodge, but then again, you have quick airport access and it isn't priced like the more remote lodge concessions that really drain the wallet. The staff was incredibly informative and answered a lot of my questions about flora and fauna. I would definitely recommend Modlito. As a matter of fact, I am trying to put together another visit in the near future.
