The look of it and the genuine ”Grand hotel” atmosphere. Beautiful surroundings with the park around the lake - great for relaxing.
Extremely friendly staff, excellent breakfast and two great restaurants with relaxed ambiente.
Just the fact that it lies a bit ”off” central parts of town - but this is also an advantage if you wish to relax in a quiet environment.

I stayed at the hotel having had an excellent experience at the Grand Hotel in Taipei. While I felt having the lake and beautiful park right next door in Kaohsiung was an upgrade, the actual hotel was not on a par with the one in Taipei. The staff were very pleasant and helpful, however.
Room was not that clean unfortunately. The restaurant was not as good as I'd experienced in Taipei. The hot tub at the pool was lukewarm at best - and the changing rooms were a real issue. The only changing area is right in front of the door, so offers zero privacy.
