Antico Hospitale is the true definition of a hidden gem. I have rarely had a stay as utterly flawless as this. The property only had a few rooms so it feels like a boutique hotel: you feel like you are getting personal treatment. The owners are lovely, incredibly helpful beyond the remit of their service (they helped us rent eBikes to cycle around the vineyards, they provided a steamer for clothes when we needed it for an event) and had lovely conversation over breakfast. The breakfast on the terrace was outstanding, a lovely selection of local produce (meats, cheeses, focaccia, fruit, juice, coffee), all laid out in a lovely manner. Our room was gorgeous, a cute double-floor loft style room with a small terrace overlooking the church. It had an antique vibe but was entirely modern inside with new fitting, air conditioning, a fantastic shower, comfortable bed, bottled water. It was truly over and above. It's located right in the centre of the town by the central square, with a very quick walk up to the upper-town level for restaurants and bars with a view. We took public transport to get there (limited bus services but all on time) located around the corner. If you want a cute Italian escape in a wine region, this is perfect.
