The pool was attractive and one could observe many beautiful birds on the deck on the morning
Staff were 100% rude at check in which created a tense feeling thereafter. Later when I overpaid them a tour by error, a staff member became defensive accusing me of having accused her of robbing me, and that I called her a liar when I had merely told her we both made an error (me overpaying and her not noticing) However, she did write a receipt for a lesser amount which was questionable. She insisted I had given specifically only the amount due. Luckily there were cameras which proved I was right. Instead of $270 I gave 270 mil colones. Both of us should have caught the error but her defensive attitude was to say I accused her of being a liar and robbing me. Never have I received such treatment at any hotel I have ever stayed at. The owner came at camera review, I was refunded my money but the owner still defended her actions in regards to accusing her of robbing me and calling her a liar which NEVER occurred. They refused to play the audio which would have proven I only treated her politely and emphasized we had mutually erred and even said I understood they were busy for Semana Santa. One never knows if that woman was simply having a bad day or if that is something they should address and improve. Nonetheless, I was so frustrated I left at 10pm and just didn’t feel comfortable there my last night and went elsewhere.

El desayuno (incluido en el precio) demasiado bueno! Tipo buffet. Gallo pinto, huevitos, salchichón, natilla, jamón, queso, tostadas, cereales, opciones de leche, frutas, café y galletas. La piscina grande y la zona de restaurante y bar ordenada y acogedora. Las habitaciones son bonitas, con aire acondicionado y balconcito hacia una zona de árboles que nos dio un espectáculo por la mañana de pájaros (tucanes, pericos, guacamayas) maravilloso. El personal muy amable! Aaaa y con parqueo privado y amplio.
Todo nos gustó mucho, nada que anotar acá.

The bed too hard

If I had to point out one advantage of this place, it is the staff who was friendly and helpful all the time.
Huge disappointment! The hotel claims to be a 3-star hotel, as they inform on Google Maps, but it's nothing like that. I asked the receptionist about it, and she said they don’t have any confirmed or certified stars. The rooms are old and in need of renovation, and most of the equipment needs replacing. The bathroom had a rusty faucet and a broken shower. To make matters worse, it was also dirty. The toilet was unwashed, and the switches were sticky, which I hated touching. We stayed for 2 nights. On the first day, there was no time to intervene as we checked-in late (7 pm) and were tired after the journey. The next day I made a complaint, in response were offered to change a room, which was a bit cleaner, but it still had the same flaws and needed refurbishment. I explained it’s not a option for us, especially as half of our stay had already passed. I offered that if they removed from google maps that they are a 3-star hotel and gave me a fair discount, then I would stop from sharing the whole story. (I'm generally careful about writing negative reviews; I usually give positive reviews to appreciate places that deserve it - you can check my history). They offered me a 7% discount, but I said that it’s not adequate for the situation. Finally, I talked to the owner, who began to negate all the issues I raised and said that I’m making them up just to tap him for not paying. In this situation, I rejected his 7% discount and paid the full price. The guy looked a little surprised, but even that didn't make him say "I'm sorry." It seems that the problem of the hotel is the owner and his mindset.
All in all, this is the worst place we've stayed in Costa Rica. It's hugely overpriced. We stayed in other tourist regions, e.g.La Fortuna and we paid half the price for much better quality and standard.

Lovely property surrounded by lush rainforest. The room has a balcony looking out into the forest. Nice pool area and breakfast. Very helpful and friendly staff. Beds and comfortable.
A little way out of the town but we hired bikes, it is an easy ride ~ 15 minutes. Taxi is ~$10. There’s a good selection of restaurants 5-10 minutes walk.

The place is a little oasis ca. 2 km from Playa Cocles. A moto or a bike is recommended to go to other beaches. Restaurants are ca. 20 min in walking distances. The place was clean and calm. To me it was very important to don't hear any cars and this is what I found there, thank you! I will come back for sure! Breakfast and pool-area was lovely! You feel you live in a wonderful jungle surrounded by animal voices ❤️. The balcons of the rooms are lovely too!! Thank you for all!
Once the hotel gets crowded you can hear the neighbours but this you find almost anywhere unfortunately. For me pillows were a little too strong/big but it depends on the person's preferences.

Very clean property with beautiful surroundings. full of lush vegetation and super close to shops and restaurants. The staff are all very friendly, the free breakfast was good and a great way to start your early morning off, the beach is a 5 minute walk and our room was freezing thanks to a strong AC which was awesome for the hot weather. Huge clean bathroom, great shower just get used to the dial as it’s different than North American showers. Cute private balcony as well. Would love to come back here in the future!

super clean. Jungle behind the house with
wildlife to spot. Very quiet (there is only birds/howlers who might wake you up. kids loved the table pool and swimming pool.
Breakfast could be improved a little. Scrambled
eggs and Gallo Pinto needed a little seasoning
and juice tasted a bit artificial. Coffee was very good though.

While the pictures of the hotel and the facilities are very accurate once you get there you realize that the hotel can do with a little bit of upgrading However, the staff is amazing in the front desk host was phenomenal and made sure she could to whatever possible to make our stay great.
I would say that facilities and the cleaning staff along with the bedding all needs to be upgraded after every time I have my roommate and changed the new sheets were stained dingy and looked like someone else has been rolling around in them before they came to me also the shower while I was there the shower had actually broke

First and foremost we enjoyed the friendly service, how secluded the property was and adjacent to the jungle. The bed was extremely comfortable and the AC worked very well. There was always clean and fresh towels throughout our stay and enough toiletries to last 5 days. Each day there was an option to have our room cleaned, and the property was very well maintained. The pool was refreshing and clean with an amazing view of the jungle surrounding the property.
The room unfortunately has zero sound proof between walls, as other reviewers have mentioned. Although this didn’t make or break our stay, I imagine it depends on which room you’re in and who is next to you. Wish the breakfast had a bit more of an option in terms of meat(bacon, cooked ham or even fried cheese). The amenities were great, however when hotel is at maximum capacity, the pool may not be comfortable to use.

Staff was really friendly and helpful. Breakfast buffet was nice, always eggs, rice/beans, toast, fresh fruit and cereal. The pool was very nice, clean and a great temp. Room was spacious and lots of hot water for showers. A ten minute walk to nice beach. Bar on site. Nice also to have a small refrigerator to keep your beverages and left overs cold. :)
Up a dirt road...fine on foot but rough on a bicycle. A little dusty at times when cars came by. No reason not to stay there though.

We loved our stay! The room was comfortable, we were right by the beautiful pool. Breakfast was a bonus. We are vegan and usually, there isn't anything for us. We enjoyed fruit, toast, juice, and coffee. All the staff was wonderful, fresh turn down every day. Would recommend it to anyone going to Puerto Viejo.
The only thing we had a problem with was the bed and pillows. A little uncomfortable for us, but we are pretty picky about our sleep.
