Kala Krang Nueng

Have been here many times. Really nice place with good location at the main road of Koh Samet. Easy to walk everywhere around city area, and white sand beach. Nice and big clean room. Also safety box now at least in this room type. OK small breakfast also served. Wifi was OK.

Quite often you don't see staff anywhere near the front desk.

I liked that the hotel was in the town. Loads of coffee shops and restaurants nearby. It was easy to just walk out and grab something.

When we arrived at the hotel, the receptionist did not greet us or even say hello. She simply continued with what she was doing when we walked in, even though there did not appear to be anyone else at the reception at the time. I handed her our passports, and she proceeded to type on her computer without any explanation or interaction. She then walked us to our room, turned on the air conditioning, and left immediately. It was only after she had left that we realized the room we had been given was not the room we had booked. We had specifically booked the Classic Double Room with Balcony, which was also the more expensive room category. I went back to reception and explained that we had booked the Classic Double Room with Balcony. The receptionist immediately appeared annoyed and began trying to explain something to me using hand gestures, making a rectangular shape with her hands. I asked her, “Do I want what?” because I genuinely did not understand what she was trying to communicate. She speaks perfect English, so I was confused as to why she could not simply explain the situation clearly. This went on for several minutes until I eventually said, “But this is the room we booked, correct? We booked the Classic Double Room with Balcony.” She sighed, appeared frustrated, and eventually said, “Okay, okay.” She then processed the access card for the correct room. When she called me back to collect the new card, I asked what the issue had been with our original room. She simply replied, “Nothing, nothing. There’s no problem.” When she finally took us to the correct room, she again just turned on the air conditioning and walked away without any further explanation. The entire interaction and her attitude put us in a bad mood from the moment we arrived. It was certainly not the welcome we expected. I understand that this review may reach her, particularly as she appears to manage this booking account, but I sincerely hope that in the future she treats guests BETTER.
