Fully-equipped villa in a quiet village with spectacular views

Blue Sea Villa has everything you need for a perfect family stay. The location itself is fantastic, about 50 minutes’ drive from Funchal in a quiet village off the beaten path. The rooms are clean, spacious and comfortable. The kitchen is equipped with everything from a dishwasher to a washing machine. And best of all, the property has a heated pool overlooking the ocean. The views are spectacular and you couldn’t find a better spot to watch the sunset. The dining area has big sliding glass doors so you can see the sun drop below the horizon while you have dinner. There’s even a small sauna that fits two people if you feel like warming up after a windy day. Both Bill the owner and Rose the property manager were attentive and available to answer our questions. A bottle of wine was waiting for us when we arrived, which we greatly appreciated.

This isn’t really a con, just something to be aware of. The fourth bedroom is in the attic. It has its own set of stairs and can be accessed separately from the rest of the property. It’s got slanted roofs like a tent so it’s not the most comfortable for tall adults because you can’t really stand up straight inside. However it can be a cozy nook for older kids or teenagers. On a final note, it would have been nice to have some basic kitchen supplies like coffee and oil to cook with, but this wasn’t a major problem, as we were able to go to the supermarket in Calheta on the morning after we arrived.
