Best all round hostel in Central Asia, close to all the sites, comfortable and clean. Rooms were nice with private lockers and privacy curtains.

The location is definitely the biggest advantage. The Registan Square is only about a 5-minute walk away, and the hostel is right in the city centre, making it very easy to reach the main sights of Samarkand on foot.
The hostel was clean and seemed to have everything you need for a short stay. Overall, the facilities were fine.
Unfortunately, my experience with the staff was disappointing. I had specifically requested a lower bunk before booking due to personal reasons that make it impossible for me to sleep on an upper bunk. I was explicitly assured that a lower bed would be guaranteed, which was one of the reasons I went ahead with the booking.
When I arrived, however, I was told that they could no longer guarantee it. I was essentially given an ultimatum: either take the upper bunk or leave. Since I arrived in the evening during high season, finding another hostel at such short notice was not a realistic option.
What disappointed me most was that there was no apology or attempt to find a solution. The hostel itself is not bad, especially considering the fantastic location, but unfortunately the way this situation was handled left a very negative impression.
I had stayed at another hostel in Samarkand beforehand, which I would recommend considerably more, especially in terms of staff, facilities and overall experience. Therefore, despite the great location, I personally would not choose Registan Hostel again.
