Good food

The beer garden and food first rate. Staff were a credit to the hotel. Loved the open verandah leading off the room. Shame we couldn’t use it because of the smokers outside filling everyone’s rooms with gross cigarette smoke. Bilo is a magnificent place.
Don’t stay here if you can’t manage flights stairs. Shared bathroom are not great. I would love to see owners lean into existing art deco features with sympathetic decor. It would be amazing. You have to turn hallway light off at night or room will be lit up through louvres above door. The smokers need to be separated from the rooms this was a big ick. I asked neighbors could they move down the verandah a bit to smoke which they did but I know they were put out by this request. Better and safer idea would be to have smokers have their own area. One smoker was grinding his lit ciggie butt onto the gorgeous wooden verandah floor. This is a gronk act but also massive fire risk in a heritage wooden building. It’s got amazing legs to be a really gorgeous historically sympathetic experience stay with minimal input required.

The pub food was amazing and excellent value a lovely historic building

The bed was comfy and the shower hot and strong.
The room had a bit of a smell. Also not much lighting in the bathroom or enough shelving to put your things on. Some power points were dodgey.
