Devant la mer, loin des touristes

Idéalement situé sur une très longue plage loin des hordes de touristes. Parfait pour marcher sur des kilomètres au bord de l'eau. L’hôtel est très propre avec une super terrasse sur le toit avec des hamacs, parfait pour se poser et/ou travailler, internet est très bon. La propriétaire nous a beaucoup aidé durant notre séjour avec nos vélos. Tous les employés sont très aimables. Rodrigo est très serviable à tout moment. Le petit-déjeuner est excellent. Possibilité de manger aux restaurants à proximité ou de commander.

La Colombie Autentique

L emplacement, quasi sur la plage , l hôtel est petit , bien agencé et bien équipé . La décoration coloré . La terrasse au dernier étage où il fait bon bercé dans les hamacs La gentillesse du personnel aux petits soins , la cuisine de Clara qui nous fait découvrir des plats, des fruits , des jus au petit déjeuner . Nous avions passé 3 nuits à Cartagena pour profiter de la ville et 2/3 nuits de repos à la Boquilla : c est idéal .

Le quartier est désert le soir , peu éclairé, peu engageant pour sortir mais la terrasse est très agréable et il est possible de se faire livrer à dîner . La saleté de la rue à proximité (le propriétaire n entretient pas ) alors que la plage est globalement propre . La monotonie des cartes des restaurants au alentours et surtout l attente

No apto para personas que quieran realizar vida social después de las 6 pm ya q nada funciona

La amabilidad de el personal y la limpieza y comodidad de la habitación.

Esta ubicada en en lugar peligroso lo que implica que a las 6 de la tarde te tengas que encerrar ya q nada funciona y todo el comercio cierra,, la habitación 202 no tenía tv por cable, mal funcionamiento de la cortina rolex fallas en el suministro de agua ya q falla el estanque de reserva y en tremendo calor quedar sin agua es fatal, no hay medidas para enfrentar el corte de suministro de luz ya q ocurrió el día 8 de enero y no hay linternas o lámparas de emergencia en los dormitorios ni generadores qué puedan ayudar a funcionar los ventiladores, otro punto muy importante que el señor rodrigo nos dejo por fuera de la casa ya que es el encargado de cuidar en la noche y al momento de ir a realizar el tur de la chiva rumbear que inicia a las 7 30 pm y termina a las 10 al regrezar al hotel no hay timbre y las puertas ya las habían cerrado y nos dejaron por fuera más de media hora, me tuve que poner en contacto con la dueña o encargada y esta duro alrededor de 10 minutos marcando el teléfono y dicha persona que cuida estaba dormido en estado de ebriedad. Lo cual no es recomendable alojarse ahí a personas q les guste realizar vida social en la noche, por q tienen q dormir y encerrarse a las 6 pm, otro punto bastante molesto es q no esperan que termines casi de comer y quieren retirar la vajilla de la mesa con mucha premura asta como si les faltas en utensilios para servir a los demás comensales.

Long beach with soft waves and warm water.

Local buses pick you up on the sand in front of the Hostel and takes you to downtown Cartagena, 15 minutes away and 3,000 pesos. We liked Makena being off the beaten path as it seemed more like an island vacation and the surrounding area was traditional fishing town and less hustle and bustle and more romantic. Our king bed was very welcome and comfortable. You can cook there or buy at next-door restaurants average 40-50,000 pesos per meal. Or take the bus and eat in Centro. Good Wi-Fi and cable TV. Stephanie-Staff and Lea=Owner are extremely helpful and friendly. Night guard gets what you need at night. Great value.

Being a long weekend, Father's Day, there was louder music being played at the restaurants.

Super friendly staff, that where always very helpful and welcoming. It felt like being treated as in a five star hotel. Directly at the beach and with several facilities at the hostel to relax. Close to locals and you get a better experience of what life is like than in other places of Cartagena.

A bit far away from the city center, but there os a bus directly in front of it.

Great tranquil spot, 10 mins outside of Central Cartagena.

Staff: Helpful, welcoming, accommodating, very friendly. Family feel. Hostel: Very clean, comfortable and spacious. Overall surrounding area is a small fishing community, which has a very local feel, which makes a nice escape from the city. You can get the beach bus, taxi (10 mins) or Makena can arrange for a driver to take you into the city, airport or Bus Terminal if needed. Everyone at Makena makes feel relaxed. Nothing is too much. Stayed for 6 days to relax after a busy time in other parts of Colombia.

inexpensive very well thought out accommodations right on the beach with great food nearby and a fantastic staff!

What a beautiful place! The layout of the building is very comfortable and the third floor has hammocks and sun chairs for relaxing in sun and enjoy the cool Caribbean breeze. I can’t begin to say how nice and accommodating the staff is. By the way breakfast is awesome and made fresh daily.

the village the hostal is in is called La Boquilla and it gets a bad rap from Cartagena locals simply because it is a poor fishing village as it has been for the past 400 or so years.

Exceptional

The Makena Beach Hostel is a beautifully decorated, modern and clean building on the outskirts of Cartagena directly next to the beach. It is perfect if you want to be close to the city (20min by bus or taxi) without having to stay in the loud and crowded center. It feels like family there because everyone is super lovely! The breakfast is amazing and Leandra, one of the owners, speaks perfect English and helps you with taxi and tour bookings. They were also very flexibel regarding checkin and checkout times and we ended up staying one additional night. Definitely recommend this place!

Seaside stay near Cartagena city

This is an excellent place. We really liked the rooftop terras with hammocks and sea view, freshly made breakfast and our lovely hosts, Leandra, Clara and Rodrigo. Also, the hostal is situated just outside the dynamics of the city and at the seaside, right on the beach! Beds were really soft, it's very clean and our host spoke English. All in all a really nice place to stay, whether you want to stay for one night (airport is 15 mins away by taxi) or more and explore Cartgana or the Rosario Islands. The hostal arranged pick-up from the airport. We would love to come back some time.

Keep in mind if you take a taxi back to the hostal to check the driver if he knows the neighbourhood. The road on the beach is quicker than through the village. Journey takes about 20 mins.

Very friendly staff and owners. Clean, comfortable and a good columbian breakfast. Taxiservice and tours available. Very close to the beach and a lovely roof terasse. Restaurants are close by, had very good dinner from the restaurant beside the guesthouse

Definitley an experience!

The property is absolutely beautiful and the staff were friendly and accommodating.

This property is located far from city central and all the sites. Ubers and taxis will not come get you at night because of the location. If you stay here, rent a car. The beach wasn’t the nicest either, you have to drive about 1 hour to find beautiful waters.

Lovely stay! We love La Boquilla!

Everything about it! The place is amazing, the owner and staff are lovely, the breakfast is always so typical and incredible. The location was wonderful to us 'cause it allowed us to get to know the locals and a not so touristic spot while having a bus just outside that connects directly to the city center! Will definitely stay again if (or when) I come back!

Very good

This is a beautiful hotel that is aesthetically very well designed. The staff and owner are very sweet and kind, Incredibly helpful and fun to chat with. It’s right in front of the beach and the breakfast was also very yummy.

You aren’t given a key to the front gate so you have to wait to have someone let you in and out, I personally need the freedom to come and go as I please!

Owners were perfect, loved them, and the hostel is so beautiful.

The owners were the more lovable persons I met. I so much enjoyed speaking with them. We were straight on beachfront, listening to lovely music and sleeping finally in a bed large enough for me!

Since we are near to a small festive village, there is music non stop. But, there is always a solution to block the noises and none to make good music appear!

Very good

The breakfast was nice and good. The staff was very friendly. It was close to the beach. It was far from the city center, but good for someone who looks for a quiet place with no many people selling things at the beach.

There was some noise in the night from guess who came late to the hotel. It was not so easy to access, the way to access has a part that went through the beach but it seemed to be safe. We did not have any security problem.
