The rooms were very comfortable, clean, and regularly turned over. There was a good shower and a wonderful deck outside.
The food was exceptional - breakfast, lunch, and dinner - a highlight of our stay.
Very small thing but the wifi wasn’t amazing - it kept kicking us off and making us rejoin which was mildly irritating.

The Peponi Hotel is really lovely. The food is great, and the staff was very attentive. I would highly recommend it.
The only thing (and this is really little) is that the pool is in a shady spot. That's nice in a way, but made it a little cold to get in.

So picturesque and incredible food
We were only there for three nights and some of our requests were not responded to (eg we ordered morning coffee and it didn’t show up)

The food at Peponi is outstanding and location was excellent. The hotel grounds are well kept and the view from our room was amazing. The staff was very friendly and always ready to assist. Even if you do not stay at Peponi visit the hotel for the restaurant. We enjoyed the special Swahili dinner at the hotel one night and it was exceptional.
Also, after doing a walking tour of both Shela and Old Town Lamu we agreed that Shela is a better place to stay than Old Town Lamu.
We stayed in Room 6 and the shower desperately needed to be deep cleaned. The tile grout was moldy and very uninviting. As another guest mentioned, the bathroom needs updating.
While I knew when we booked the hotel there was no AC, we found the heat and humidity in November to be more than we could take. It would be a place we would highly recommend if there was a split AC unit installed so guests could sleep better at night.
We also found the mattress to be VERY FIRM and uncomfortable.
